Secretary of Defense Mark Esper was just fired. He is being replaced in an acting capacity by Christopher C. Miller, the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center. By law the Deputy Secretary of Defense is supposed to become Defense Secretary in this event. That person is David Norquist.
