They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Re: Trump's Steel Tariffs May Have Put Final Nail In Steel Industry in Michigan
I'm sorry, but the central premise behind that article is ridiculous and completely irrational.
Steel tariffs have NOTHING to do with slumping domestic auto demand. The truth of the matter is (i) a relatively high percentage of Generation Z doesn't drive or has no interest in car ownership, (ii) the Asian car manufacturers make cars and SUVs that, generally speaking, are more desirable to U.S. consumers than GM, Fiat-Chrysler and Ford. Now, we can add COVID-induced societal shifts into the mix, too.
With the ever increasing shift toward online commerce and now a swift increase in employees working remotely most of the time or all of the time, that does not bode well for steel demand. People will be putting far fewer miles on their automobiles each year, and there won't be much of a need for structural steel, either, since new large scale commercial construction projects will slow to a relative trickle in many major metro areas.

We have sold three cars and replaced them with one. My wife has retired from owning a car, my son doesn't have one and my daughter plans to not have one as an adult.
We would like to see those good paying fracking jobs replaced with wind and solar jobs.

There is nothing wrong with owning a car. We have enough oil to own them if we want.
The problem here is that the trade deficit is causing inflation to skyrocket.

Re: Trump's Steel Tariffs May Have Put Final Nail In Steel Industry in Michigan
Trump had nothing to do with the layoffs at Great Lakes in Ecorse.
When U.S.Steel bought Great Lakes Steel, they bought a world class steel mill. The steel mills that U.S.S. already owned in Gary Indiana and Mon Valley Pennsylvania were falling apart. They ran Great Lakes into the ground to pay to fix up Gary and Mon Valley.
They only did the minimum amount of maintenance they had to at Great Lakes, just enough to keep running until it just fell apart. That's why U.S.S. closed most of Great Lakes. The wheels finally fell off.

Inflation? What inflation?
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.

Nice detective work, audiophile!
R Bedell is absolutely right; this is an industry suffering a multi-decade decline.
Domestically, the industry did see minor employment growth in 2018 and 2019 (under Trump).
The Reuters article is rubbish, for the most part.

Maybe if Whitmer would fix the damn roads, more people would want to drive.

The conservative victims always want to blame anyone but their own.
Republican Rick Snyder failed to engage the Republican Senate for years on roads...

Her proposal was absolute dog shit and was widely panned, even by low intelligence Bideners: https://www.crainsdetroit.com/voices-ch ... -hike-planMotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 8:45 pmShe had a proposal, the GOP Gestapo shut it down.
It might be a good idea to not always resort to the nazi card.
Voting for Trump is dumber than playing Russian Roulette with fully loaded chambers.

We're not the party who endangers an entire state's health repeatedly. We aren't the ones who stand with idiots who want to kidnap Whitener.
