Pride month
Re: Pride month
Another "Who outside the media cares?" month.
When 99% of the LGBTIQCAPGNGFNBA+ crowd you allude to learns from the media that there even is a Pride Month, it's not all that special, is it?

Re: Pride month
Queen Gretch made it a point to express that it was pride month in her presser yesterday.
Re: Pride month
I'm proud of what I am all year round. But only one day each year is set aside to celebrate it.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.
Re: Pride month
Wow. I never even thought of that.
What I am is working class. We celebrate that on Labour Day

Re: Pride month
Pride Week is quite a celebration in Traverse City. Made even better because it chases the homophobic people away. We have actually had people leave the city because they couldn't handle those who celebrate their sexuality.
As for your disparaging comments? This is exactly why the rest of Michigan remains in the economic dark ages while Traverse City has a growing economy.

And just ignore the disparaging comments from the diarrhea that is still allowed to post on this site for unknown reasons.

Re: Pride month
You think it'd be OK for me to come to Traverse City, say around the middle of August, and celebrate my sexuality? It wouldn't be a big parade, just a few convertibles, but boy would we be having fun in those convertibles.
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

I'm guessin' you're straight, Bryce. Me too.
But we never had to handle the stigma and prejudice that gays do, just because they were born the way they are. The discrimination and jokes and remarks and shit that gets thrown on them. Just look at this website alone, the shitstain and garbage of a human being called lovinlife is allowed to demean and slur gays on a daily basis and it is allowed and tolerated.
My sister is gay and has been beat up, spat on, and embarassed to the point she thought of taking hèr own life. But she persevered, and deserves to be celebrated in my eyes. Gays should be proud.

Sounds fine to me, pm me, I'll buy you a beer.
that's really unfortunate. Your sister wouldn't have had those problems in Traverse City. Kids in school have a pretty solid support group these days. We have the largest gay prom in Michigan. My sister is gay and has been beat up, spat on, and embarassed to the point she thought of taking hèr own life. Re: Pride month
Why would anyone want to celebrate their sexuality? I don't see heterosexuals celebrating in this matter...but probably because ones sexuality isn't a big deal.

Grayling isn't exactly a cultural hot spot for the LGBTQ+ Community...

Rolling Oak Brewing in Grayling is excellent though.

Re: Pride month
I have no issue whatsoever with Gay's being proud. What I have a problem with is reducing them to their sexuality and "celebrating sexuality." Just as being black is about much more than the color of one's skin, being Gay is about much more than who a person likes to have sex with.Honeyman wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 11:42 pm

As a side, my sister moved to California in 1965 after graduating from college because being gay wasn't much accepted in mid-Michigan at that time. I'm familiar with the "struggle", although I wasn't aware of it until a number of years later. She was much older than me.
