Cuomo instead of Biden

Post by Deleted User 14896 » Sat Apr 11, 2020 5:30 pm

The link below is an article from the New York Post. A majority of Democrats want to nominate New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo for president instead of Joe Biden, according to poll results shared exclusively with The Post..
Now I'm not wanting a discussion about if this would be a good idea or not.

But could someone explain to me the process involved in doing this? Of course we agree there's no way Cuomo can get more delegates than Biden by the convention. So how would they go about doing this? Is it possible? Thanks.

The poll was from the Club for Growth which is a Republican interest group with an interest in seeing Biden fail...

Oh yeah, I'm sure just like any other poll, there's a slant towards some sort of interest.
But the query I was posting was an explanation of the logistics involved in getting someone who wasn't in the primaries to be the nominee. Is it something that could be done? And if so, what would the process be?

Trump instead of either.

Can someone explain to me all the praise Andrew Cuomo is receiving? What has he done to earn it?

His track record as Governor is mixed, and he is also isn't a very charismatic fellow, either. The Dem establishment always falls head over heels in love with anyone whose last name is "Kennedy" or "Cuomo," for some reason.

His decisive actions in the pandemic have him sitting pretty. He doesn’t want it I don’t think.

Setting aside partisan politics- I suspect it's because he's (arguably) appeared to have been a more competent presenter on TV during the Covid crisis than any other politician of either party. It appears that he has done his homework before his updates - he runs his own PowerPoint and actually seems to know what is on each slide beyond just the words. That isn't a whole lot to go on of course, but since Nixon v Kennedy how you look and act on TV carries a lot of weight.

Plenty of governors have taken "decisive actions." Not sure how or why he's special compared to the others.

His almost daily press conferences/addresses that have been broadcast show an intelligent man, addressing a serious problem with clarity and are well-spoken. They stand out compared to the bumbling banter of Biden, and the lies, vitriol, and idiocy of Trump.

A lot of people in New York, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, had major issues with Cuomo. Many still do today.

Since Biden has not locked up the nomination with enough delegates, the party is free to choose to put whomever they want forward. Even if he did get enough delegates, the party could change their own rules. The real hurdle is what date you have to file in each state to be on the ballot for the general election.

I thought the Dums' elite had already circled their wagons around plugs.

What other actions could happen to once again prove them wrong?
