Re: Stimulus Bill Passed
I know. My headline is in contrast to “Stimulus Bill Killed”. Poetic license as we await the vote, and the greasy signature of Turd King Trump.
Re: Stimulus Bill Passed
At this point I can’t see it failing. Both sides have lockstep delegations...

They just want the ability to propose & debate amendments.
Their concerns can be easily accommodated. I agree with them. People should not receive unemployment benefits that exceed the wages or salary that they would otherwise earn.
The Republican Senators even said regulatory guidance from the Labor Department would be sufficient in lieu of specific language in the bill.

Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) and Rick Scott (R-Fla.) are now the roadblock and then acquiescing to them will make Bernie the roadblock... they just need to pass the damn thing already. They spent the weekend outing it together... for any of the 5 to hold it up is unacceptable.
Re: Stimulus Bill Passed
still not understanding why this needed to be one h u g e bill instead of a couple smaller ones
Re: Stimulus Bill Passed
Because one big one means lining everybody else up once and not four or five times... you minimize the risk of it failing by doing it in one shot.
Re: Stimulus Bill Passed
Democrats delayed the bill so they could put restrictions into it designed to stop Trump and family from personally benefiting.

Re: Stimulus Bill Passed
The House still needs to take up this legislation. Will be interesting to see how that goes.

Re: Stimulus Bill Passed
I would love for TRUMP to make a proposal to specifically exclude his family of companies (and his kid's related companies) from being able to take advantage of funding in this bill. I'm sure that's never been done in a bill at any time in history (and is probably illegal in some ways for a bill to specifically exclude a person or specific company), but it would be a great talking point.Rate This wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 10:59 pmDemocrats delayed the bill so they could put restrictions into it designed to stop Trump and family from personally benefiting.

The bill names no specific individuals. It pertains to holders of certain federal offices and those persons related to them.km1125 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 10:23 amI would love for TRUMP to make a proposal to specifically exclude his family of companies (and his kid's related companies) from being able to take advantage of funding in this bill. But it isn’t real hard to guess who they had in mind. Trump would NEVER EVER EVER propose such a thing. He has spent his time in office attempting to steer official events to his hotels and resorts instead.Vic Doucette wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 11:03 amThe bill names no specific individuals.
