Chuck Schumer is a shmuck and has always been a shmuck.

We know what’s at stake. Over the last three years, women’s reproductive rights have come under attack in a way we haven’t seen in modern history. From Louisiana to Missouri to Texas, Republican legislatures are waging a war on women, all women, and they’re taking away fundamental rights. I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.
The bottom line is very simple. We will stand with the American people. We will stand with American women. We will tell President Trump and Senate Republicans, who have stacked the court with right-wing ideologues, that you’re going to be gone in November, and you will never be able to do what you’re trying to do now ever, ever again. You hear that over there on the far right? You’re gone in November.
Justice Roberts' response was as follows:
Justices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous. All Members of the Court will continue to do their job, without fear or favor, from whatever quarter.
Schumer's office responded as follows:
Sen. Schumer’s comments were a reference to the political price Senate Republicans will pay for putting these justices on the court, and a warning that the justices will unleash a major grassroots movement on the issue of reproductive rights against the decision. For Justice Roberts to follow the right wing’s deliberate misinterpretation of what Sen. Schumer said, while remaining silent when President Trump attacked Justices Sotomayor and Ginsberg last week, shows Justice Roberts does not just call balls and strikes,
Now my thoughts. Schumer very clearly targeted his remarks at the 2 judges, NOT at Congressional Republicans. "I want to tell
you, Gorsuch, I want to tell
you, Kavanaugh,

He calls them out by name and uses the word "you" SEVEN TIMES. For Schumer's office to suggest that Justice Roberts somehow misinterpreted his statement and that he was really referring not to the judges paying a price, but to "Senate Republicans" paying a price for putting those 2 named judges on the bench, is not only insulting to Roberts' intelligence, but is just factually wrong.
Schumer stepped in it big time and chose to double-down. Probably won't hurt him politically among his constituents, so he'll get away with it, but his behavior and response here were both utterly inappropriate.
