Further more many trend lines do not extend to infinity without breaking down or reversing. Since any data in your link stopped in 1977 it is absurd to assume anything about a trend line.

I day trade the stock market where trend lines are a way of life. They often break down and as I said data that ended in 1977 no longer has trend line significance
