Second Presidential Debate - Major hurricane brewing?

Post by bmw » Fri Sep 23, 2016 10:33 pm

If the GFS computer model run ends up being accurate (which, this is a LONG ways out so who knows), we could have something close to another Hurricane Katrina hitting on the morning of the second Presidential debate (not the VP debate - but the second Presidential debate on Oct 9).

Granted, this is 16 days out, but we'll see just how good the GFS is at predicting these kinds of things.

Any clues yet as to where it might make landfall? We're going to be in Florida at that time.

The afternoon run showed it slamming into mid-Louisiana.

The evening run shows it hitting Florida.

That will undoubtedly change back and forth many times between now and then (or it may fall apart entirely or not even develop - it is nothing more than a tropical wave right now but apparently conditions are very favorable for development), but if you want to keep an eye on the model runs, go here: http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/

The Democrat on the Republican ticket will cry foul when he is destroyed tonight, and there won't be another debate.

Trump has insisted that Lester Holt (moderator) have no ear piece. This is so there is no way to fact check live. Trump plans to lie through his teeth tonight but doesn't want to be held accountable. He core followers don't believe the news media, they are the core users of "Truthiness"

Still not fair. He should also have to wear earplugs so he can't hear the lies.

Neither Trump nor Hillary can understand normal thinking.

A network anchor without an IFB? It would have been less cruel to just shove a stick of Krytonite up his ass.

I'd say the GFS computer model did a pretty good job at predicting this storm - the track prediction wasn't perfect, but at the time, this was barely even a tropical wave. To forecast something like this a full 16 days out I'd say is quite impressive.

And have you all seen the latest model runs? It could be deja vu for Florida up to South Carolina - supposed to hit this weekend, then loop around do it ALL OVER AGAIN a week later. What a bizarre storm.

You're better at taking seriously early warning computerized weather modeling technology than what could happen to your country if an NPD-afflicted brain takes over the U-S presidency.

You're correct, NS. There are only so many X factors that can influence a hurricane's path and intensity and duration. But due to the human factor ever present in the mix of all universial factors - the presidential thinking/action equation is much more consequential and unpredictable.
