Dr. Sowell has penned an interesting commentary on this subject. He contends that Obama isn't really a socialist, but more of a fascist.

See, in socialism, the government owns the means of production. A fascist merely dictates. Dictating and issuing executive orders suits Obama and the progressives/liberals just fine. If the government owns the means of production and are in total control, they have to take responsibility for their failures. If the government merely dictates, they are able to take credit for the wins that happen because of their "brilliant" policy and then blame the failures on the evil business owners and their ineptitude.

Pretty much hits the nail on the head in my opinion.

Obama said "just choose what works". Why doesn't he? The United States of America became the most prosperous nation on earth in 200 short years with free market capitalism. Seems that works pretty well, yet he goes out of his way to ruin it.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Wow. I'm gonna pretend you didn't just say that Barack Obama is the sole destroyer of capitalism. Of course, with shining examples of the bright side of capitalism like Kenneth Lay, Dennis Kozlosky, and Bernard Madoff, I could see why Obama would work so hard to undo all the wonderful things that those pillars of the community worked so hard to create.

Wait. What's that you say? Less than a year of Obama's SECOND term left, and the good ol' U.S. of A. has the same economic system as when he took office, when our country's economic system wasn't looking so great? No, I'm not gonna blame Bush...after all, it was the Democrats in Congress that caused all of that. It was only the president's fault some time around January 20-21 of 2009. It was my understanding that officials would be pounding down my doors to lay claim to any and all firearms in my home and on my person some time beginning around that date.

Wait. What's that? That never happened? Maybe it did, I could have been napping. It is tiring, working two jobs to support all of those lazy freeloaders and career welfare recipients...which was only amplified by that "Socialism Deduction" I found on my check stubs starting on 1/20/09.

Now, I'm stumped...I'm comparing stubs from December 2008 and December 2014, and all deductions look the same. Guess that means...no, I'm sure he's hiding that Socialism Deduction in some form that I'm not seeing. Which is weird, because the net pay has actually increased in that time frame. You're right about that Obama...he's such a sneaky Musl--, er, I meant Socialist, that, while taking half of my paycheck to give to those who Snort marijuanas all day and refuse to work (I hear those are the ONLY people that don't have jobs), my take home pay is actually a larger sum! Gotta watch that guy...

It's not that I'm even defending Obama, but after nearly eight years of these paranoid fantasies, and hearing the same story lines day in and day out, I just had to make that statement above. And believe you me, since I'm sure you still believe that, since he apparently shows disdain for the Second Amendment and all those other ones that aren't nearly as important, elections will be suspended. But, I'm sure I'll have another satire on how the November election and January Inauguration is really just a facade, purpotraded by the Obama owned MSNABCNNBSNYTVHSDVDFMAM or whatever it's called, and the Obama's themselves, who will murder the winners and have themselves surgically altered to appear as whoever wins, thus being able to carry on with the gun inquisition and taking my hard earned money and handing it out to anyone that refuses to work...that's gotta be the ONLY reason one wouldn't have a job, right? No other reasons? No? .........you sure? I bet that guy next door that couldn't find work in his field and was down on his luck and couldn't get work at Burger King was a Goddamn dirty liar! Can't ask him...Since I haven't seen him in nearly a year, he must be up to another trick...by having me think he lost his house, JUST to get his hands on my money. Sneakier than Obama! That Romney lawn sign was surely a ruse!

Well, it's been fun, but it's about time for me to hit the pillows. I'm sure there's some bumper sticker somewhere that describes, in two sentences, my dilemma of having to work and hand money off to leaches or something like that. Hell, if I see one I really like, I MIGHT just base my whole political philosophy off of it!

Ah, shit...someone's at the door. Figures. Two guys in black suits with a black van and badges. I wonder what they could want...

Now did I say Obama was the sole destroyer of capitalism? Nope. He would like too, but he couldn't pull it off completely in the time he has available. He has made some inroads however. The change can't happen overnight. It is gradual.
Wait. What's that you say? Less than a year of Obama's SECOND term left, and the good ol' U.S. of A. has the same economic system as when he took office
Well, except for health care along with the roadblocks his administration has put up that makes it more difficult for small business to operate. He has though, transformed our health care into a government controlled entity. Like Dr. Sowell suggests, he has a win/win there. He can take credit for the perceived good things and blame the bad on the evil insurance companies and health care providers.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out where this guys head is at. When visiting two communist/socialist countries, instead of extolling the virtues of freedom and the free market, which has made the U.S. the most successful economic model the world has ever seen, he tells them that communism is just fine and dandy. Wow, just wow.
Now, I'm stumped...I'm comparing stubs from December 2008 and December 2014, and all deductions look the same.
You're fortunate. Many people have seen their deductions become much less than what they were paying in 2008. Not because taxes have went down, but because they are working less hours or in a job they are over-qualified for as a direct result of Obama dictates.

Hey genius... Although Medicaid was expanded there wasn't a H*** new department created to run the healthcare system... Even my healthy Michigan plan goes through United Health not the state or Feds even though the state put me into it directly because of the health law.... I'm perfectly happy with it and have had no trouble. It's not the boogie man you people make it out to be...

LOL, yeah, it's RAN by others but with mandates by the federal government on how they operate. That was the whole point of the communism vs. fascism argument. I guess it was lost on you.

You may be happy. I'm glad. But I bet a big part of the reason you're happy is because you are getting a pretty big subsidy on your insurance costs. That money is coming from somewhere.
Take-home pay at small businesses was trimmed by some $22.6 billion annually because of the Affordable Care Act and related insurance premium hikes, researchers at the American Action Forum, a center-right think tank headed by former Congressional Budget Office director Douglas Holtz-Eakin, found in a report released Tuesday.

Ah, shit...someone's at the door. Figures. Two guys in black suits with a black van and badges. I wonder what they could want...

Wow. What a complete pile this is. I've said this before, I consider myself a moderate liberal, mainly because of social issues and I voted for Mr. Obama. I, and most of my friends however, are unbelievably disappointed, not only with his economic policies, but also his inability and unwillingness to work with the other side. No other president in our history has been able to blame everything and anything on the other side as well as Mr. Obama. And don't give me any bull shit, I loathe most republicans in congress, but Mr. Obama's behavior has been egregious.

You claim he hasn't changed any economic policy? You are out of your mind. A few examples. American singles earning over 150K and couples earning more than 250k are paying 40% or more in taxes to the US government. You say that's impossible because the tax code only allows 38%? Well, if you earned more than the above mentioned figures, not only do you see a marginal tax increase on your income, but you also see a capital gaines tax increase and an additional 3.8 sur tax on all earnings on investments. Now, you may say, the rich are paying their fair share now, but I'd say... earning 150k and having 40% taken away by Uncle Sam really doesn't make you wealthy. In fact, it makes you pissed off. Oh yeah... And none of these tax increases I'm listing are at the state level. So you can add state taxes on top of the numbers I've listed here.

Also, Mr. Obama has let our deficit increase to dangerously high levels since he took office. Of course progressives will say that the deficit doesn't really matter. And partially, that's true. But look at this, I'll use the housing crisis as an example. Think of the deficit as your house payment and your paying on time every month like your supposed to. Then let's say that your payment is increasing exponentially each month to the point where you can no longer afford to pay it, so you get a loan (in this case from China) to continue to make the payments, and China gives you a "jumbo interest only" loan... And then those payments start to increase exponentially.. And now you can't afford to pay even the interest on that loan. That's where the danger lies within the deficit. And that's where we are teetering with countries like China. It's simple economics. One can always make an argument for their side to keep getting elected, but allowing the deficit to continue the way it is is bad policy.

And by the way, in case you haven't noticed, all of the tax increases and the massive increase in the deficit haven't led to a flourishing economy. "Income inequality " has gotten much worse under President Obama. The middle class is growing because people can't earn enough to get out of the spot they're in. And, yes, more people are working now than they were 5 years ago, but for less desirable and lower paying jobs. And stop blaming big companies. Those companies are paying H*** tax increases under Mr. Obama as well and they can't afford to pay your healthcare and raise your salary like you assume they can. They're actually not the enemy here.

And I'm not a gun fan, hertz, but if you think Mr. Obama hasn't changed laws already under executive order, you need to do a little more research, my friend. He has done as much as he can and he wants to do more. Don't kid yourself.

Sure they are. As a business owner, wouldn't you just love a government mandate that everyone has to buy your product? Not only that, if your customer can't afford your product, the government will even subsidise your customers purchase. Wait, there's more, the ACA/Federal Government even guarantees yes, guarantees, to cover up to 80% of any losses. THAT certainly isn't free market capitalism.

True, and Bernie's idea isn't any better, he wants to get rid of all the insurance companies....put them out of business!

And if you like your current plan, tough cookies - you get the government plan with income tax rates up to 90%...

Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!

Free market capitalism needs some checks... Left to its own devices companies would begin to do things written about in Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle"... Like brains and penises in sausage and maybe if they are feeling really cheap sawdust...

So ignore the larger point I made there... Capitalism left to its own devices with no regulation can be very destructive...

Some parts of Capitalism loved the mandate... Others hated it... What could be more capitalist than that? Try watching a bunch of people with no insurance and H*** medical problems talk sometime and try to apply moderate solutions instead of pie in the sky conservative ones that'll never happen...

You're perfectly happy ignoring salient points on a regular basis.

Umm, there is a difference between regulation and over regulation. As of 2014, studies show that the burden of regulation in the U.S. costs the economy 1.8 trillion dollars per year.

Regulation is the cost of civilization... Period. Would you like the Chinese economy's level of regulation? Get away with whatever you want to save a buck?
