Very true.
At one time the Toyota Tacoma pickup was the vehicle with the most US content. More than any vehicle sold by the Big 3. Built in Georgetown Kentucky by UAW workers. Made with AK steel (now Cleveland Cliffs) from a USW mill in Middletown Ohio.
But I don't want a truck. I don't want a luxury SUV. That seems to be all the Big 3 want to build anymore. When I buy a new vehicle next year, I might have to violate my own rule to get what I really want.

I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.

So what is it that you want? And the reason that the big 3 build trucks and big SUVs is because that's what the majority of their customers want and there's lots of profit margin in them.

I want just a plain, basic SUV similar to the Equinox I drive now. I don't need all the expensive frills like AWD, navigation system blue teeth connectivity, leather upholstery, towing package, special paint, 22" aluminum wheels, power ashtray, coffee maker etc.

Go buy a Ford Edge then. CAW-built in Oakville, Ontario. Escape is built in Louisville too if you want something cheaper.

I'm saying keep the Equinox. You like everything about it. Keep it.
How much less than the cost of a new one would it take to keep the one you got showroom new?

I tend to agree. God knows I've gotten rid of cars that I still kick myself in the ass over. If you like it and there's nothing out there new that you like better, roll with it.

The three stand up and walk out at midnight plants are going to be:
GM Wentzville, MO
Stellantis Toledo
Ford Wayne

GM offered 20% raises earlier today… not good enough.

I'd recommend extending the middle finger instead.

What strike? Biden says there isn't going to be a strike.
He's probably right.
Asking for a 40+ percent raise is exorbitant. The company knows it. The union knows it. And Biden knows it. But it's part of the dance.

I'm thinking it will end up 12 percent pay raise or so over the life of the contract. Maybe 15 percent. But I doubt it goes that high.

Instead, the company will agree to more COL or profit sharing,, increased health benefits, working conditions, etc. All that can be wrote off.

No matter what Biden says, the union will support him next year. Union leadership has always been card carrying members of the Democratic Party. They have to be.
Oxshort and Biden both wrong - who would have thought?

Anyone who thought this wouldn't happen didn't really pay attention. This is what the UAW wanted.
