Voting for Trump is dumber than playing Russian Roulette with fully loaded chambers.

He could have kept his mouth shut (and thumbs off the keyboard) and paid *only* $5 million, but, nope. He had the right to remain silent, but he didn't have the ability.
I mean, I know Trump will find a way to spin this in a way that he sees as a benefit to him, but it's just bat-spit crazy to think there's benefit in coughing up another $78 million when he could have gotten away with paying much less. Is his narcissism really that pervasive?

According to his other NY trial, 83 million is like 12% of his true net worth.

Considering her age and how long appeals take it will be her remaining family that see any money if there is ever any money paid.

CKLW... The Motor City (couldn't resist)
Alina Habba told the New York Post she was previously unaware that Manhattan federal Judge Lewis Kaplan, who presided over the case, worked with Roberta Kaplan, Carroll’s attorney, at the Paul Weiss Rifkin, Wharton & Garrison law firm in the early 1990s. Habba says neither the judge nor Roberta Kaplan revealed this professional history. “It was never disclosed. It’s insane and so incestuous,” Habba said, asserting the non-disclosure counts as an ethics violation. Early in her career, Roberta worked as an associate at the firm during the same period as Judge Kaplan, who was a partner until his 1994 appointment to the federal bench by then-President Bill Clinton.
A representative for Roberta Kaplan, Zak Sawyer, said no conflict of interest exists because Roberta never worked directly for Kaplan, a defense undermined by an unnamed ex-partner at the firm, who told the Post, “Lew [Lewis Kaplan] was like her mentor.”
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Too bad, life's not fair, particularly to criminals. I would suggest 4,000 cases counts as a pattern.
From the 1970s until he was elected president in 2016, Donald Trump and his businesses were involved in over 4,000 legal cases in U.S. federal and state courts, including battles with casino patrons, million-dollar real estate lawsuits, personal defamation lawsuits, and over 100 business tax disputes.[1] He has also been accused of sexual harassment and sexual assault,[2][3] with one accusation resulting in Trump being held civilly liable.[4]
In 2015, his lawyer Alan Garten called this "a natural part of doing business" in the United States.[5][6] While litigation is indeed common in the real estate industry,[5] Trump has been involved in more legal cases than his fellow magnates Edward J. DeBartolo Jr., Donald Bren, Stephen M. Ross, Sam Zell, and Larry Silverstein combined.[7]

You can stretch that, but can't put together why it's 45 degrees in January, year after year.

Trump posted a bond today to appeal the Carroll defamation situation. I wonder if Musk lent him money.

Very well might be. After Elon's bat shit rant about the audacity of MacKenzie Scott's philanthropy it appears Elon does have some serious issues with smart, strong woman. The Carroll thing seems right in his wheelhouse to rail against.
