Peacock-exclusive Wild Card game Saturday Jan. 13, 2024
Peacock-exclusive Wild Card game Saturday Jan. 13, 2024
Hopefully, the Lions game will not be the chosen game.
The first-ever streaming-only NFL Playoff game will be exclusive to Peacock. NBCUniversal and the NFL announced in May that the Peacock-exclusive Wild Card game will take place on Saturday Jan 13, 2024. The game will start immediately after another Wild Card game that will be LIVE on both NBC and Peacock.
The game won’t be available on traditional TV, except in the two teams’ local markets.

I get the 'cock because there are some MSU games that I won't miss. Also, I never saw Parks and Rec when it was broadcast so binging that has been a treat.
Nonetheless, this is the way of the sports world now, so either pay up, go to a sports bar, or miss the games.

I have it too, because there was an early season Michigan game on there, and I haven't canceled yet.

People pay 50 bucks, 75, more FOR an MMA fight. 5 bucks for a Lion playoff game that's a once in 3 decade event seems like a bargain. But I do feel for those people who can't afford it.

Unless it is the Lions playoff game on Peacock that will be another instance where I will have to try to avoid seeing the score before watching the rerun later that night on NFL Network like I do for Amazon TNF games and last weekend's Bills/Chargers game on Peacock.

If I read Honey's post right, if you live in Metro Detroit you can still watch it on the usual channels.SteveS wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 4:57 pmUnless it is the Lions playoff game on Peacock that will be another instance where I will have to try to avoid seeing the score before watching the rerun later that night on NFL Network like I do for Amazon TNF games and last weekend's Bills/Chargers game on Peacock.
It's only if you're outta town that viewing the game may be inhibited.
Life is not a dress rehearsal. This is it. There's no going back, and we can only go forward before we run out of runway.

Yes, though I am not sure what exactly is considered the "metro area".Round Six wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 12:45 pmIf I read Honey's post right, if you live in Metro Detroit you can still watch it on the usual channels.SteveS wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 4:57 pmUnless it is the Lions playoff game on Peacock that will be another instance where I will have to try to avoid seeing the score before watching the rerun later that night on NFL Network like I do for Amazon TNF games and last weekend's Bills/Chargers game on Peacock.

Yep, I know of the simulcast. That's why I said, "Unless it is the Lions playoff game on Peacock..."
I'm sure illegal streams would not be hard to find to watch it live if it isn't the Lions game, but I'm just not a fan of stealing.

You could just sign up for Peacock and cancel in a month. 5 bucks to watch that game is easily worth it.

True. Maybe I'll do that if it isn't the Lions game on Peacock.

I'll always have FM and AM radio. I'm not doling out 100+ bucks a month for a few games, no matter how big a fan I am. Thats outrageous.

This is stupid, really. 1 out of 6 games, at random, the fans in the state not in the metro area get singled out as getting screwed while literally every other fan of every other playoff team gets to watch the game on regular tv? This streaming exclusivity nonsense really needs to be limited to outside of the entire state (or at least designated market area) of each team, not just the immediate city/metro area. ESPECIALLY the playoffs.
As an aside, I can't imagine that the Lions would draw that short straw - not with how historic this game is and especially given the Dallas fiasco.

Whatever game that is will have a large radio audience.bmw wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2024 10:13 amThis is stupid, really. 1 out of 6 games, at random, the fans in the state not in the metro area get singled out as getting screwed while literally every other fan of every other playoff team gets to watch the game on regular tv?
