It's not a political vote. The members are from all over. There are two from the BIG 10 this year and only one from the SEC.
Don't think for a minute the non SEC members are in love with the SEC because they are not.
Let’s just have ESPN place the teams. That’ll settle it.

1. Bama
2. OSU
3. OSU
4. Bama

Yes without a doubt. I feel bad for Iowas excellent defense that they have a puke garbage offense to be paired with.

Michigan TEs need to quit dropping passes. They look like Eric Ebron clones.

Florida State won 16 to 6 against Louisville. Reviewing their regular season contests coupled with today's result, close wins against Florida, Miami, Clemson probably isn't quite enough of a resume to justify a CFP berth. They did have a very impressive win against LSU in week #1, though. However, key players involved in that win are not available due to injury.

So, I now think Texas gets the nod after all.

My updated ranks:
Michigan at 1.
Washington at 2.
Alabama at 3.
Texas at 4.

(I only have medium confidence in my 2 through 4 sequencing; those seedings are difficult for sure.)

It's near-impossible to pick between Alabama, Georgia, and Texas for the last spot as they all have very similar strengths-of-schedule. So then based on head-to-head, Alabama beat Georgia and Texas beat Alabama, so MY pick would be Texas. Ohio State is no longer in the conversation, IMO.

As to actual rankings, I think Washington belongs in the 1-spot, followed by Michigan, then Florida State, then Texas. My prediction for how the committee will do it is Michigan at 1, Washington at 2, Alabama at 3, and Florida State at 4.

It would be a joke if Michigan is not #1. The SEC should not get any teams. Florida State went 13-0 and Texas beat Alabama head to head - both should matter.

In comparing Michigan to Washington, I'm looking at wins vs teams that were ranked at the time they played:

Michigan:
#10 Penn State
#2 Ohio State
#16 Iowa

Washington:
#8 Oregon
#20 USC
#18 Utah
#11 Oregon State
#5 Oregon

Washington has the slightly more impressive resume, IMO.

That said, I do think there's a near-100% chance that the #1 spot goes to Michigan.

3 of the top 7 defenses in that list, 2 without the HC. USC was terrible this year.

I agree with you on USC, Matt. Utah shit the bed, too, toward the end of the year, in which they went 2-3. Oregon State, meanwhile, is a 4 loss team.

Those AP ranks from bmw are at the time of each contest, not this week's poll.

Washington had a very impressive season and is without question one of the very best teams in the country. However, I think Michigan's overall resume is just a bit better.

I certainly would be surprised if the Huskies are 1 and Michigan is 2. That said, I'm not so sure playing the #4 team in the semis would be any easier than facing the #3 team! Alabama is the team that scares me most. SEC is a stronger conference than the Big Ten and ACC; Alabama is a lock for a berth.

Michigan played fewer ranked teams and got to coast for most of the year. Their resume is pretty thin partially because we book East Cupcake State for 3 games at home before Big Ten play starts. We don't do those early season primetime non conference top 10 team games which is puzzling.

1. Michigan,
2. Washington,
3. Texas,
4. Alabama just can't see CFP not having an SEC team in.

FSU there QB is out and I get they ran the table didn't lose a game there going to lose I know Jim Harbaugh wants FSU than to play Alabama and Nick I'm A Sellout Saban he did MSU wrong why I'll never forgive him. Which should be a good game going down to the wire only blowout I want to see is Michigan doing it and not Alabama.

I hope this is correct. This is the proper final 4.

To have a college football playoff without a team from the best conference in college football, WITHOUT QUESTION, makes it a joke.

Alabama doesn't belong over 13-0 FSU with this resume:
They were tied with a 6-6 Group of 5 team, USF late in fourth quarter. They beat 4-8 Arkansas by 3 points at home. They needed a muffed punt and a 4th and 31 miracle to beat 6-6 Auburn. Nothing about that says top 4 team.

You are just afraid to play them. To say FSU is a better team than Alabama is ludicrous.
