Draft Lottery

Why are two out of four draft anchors women? Isn't the WNBA happening now?

I'll reiterate my prediction from weeks ago that the Spurs will get the #1 overall pick.

The Pistons, as usual, got fucked in the lottery. They will pick fifth overall.

I thought that the Pistons would've been top 3.

I don’t necessarily believe the fix is in with San Antonio winning this draft lottery, or the Blackhawks winning in the NHL. But the NBA and NHL leave themselves open to doubt simply by not televising the ping-pong balls. If Mega Millions and Powerball can televise a lottery live, why can’t the NBA and NHL?

The fact the Spurs are one of the winningest organizations in professional sports over the past 25 years and have never suffered an extended "down" period during that time. That team has benefitted from great coaching, great talent, and outright luck multiple times.

We can put yesterday in the outright luck category.

Weaver's selection of Ausar Thompson at #5 overall stinks. His adaptability to the NBA game is questionable, and he's a guard who is a somewhat unreliable 3-pt shooter.

Grading seemed much more harsh of the trade made to acquire Marcus Sasser at #25, which I don't understand.

The Pistons already have about 83 fucking guards on the roster. This year's selections suggest to me Weaver has doubts regarding Cunningham's future. I have a feeling Cade Cunningham is going to be a frail player who injures his pussy lips every five minutes.

Of course, the Pistons press corps are fawning over both first round picks last night as if they're the best thing since sliced bread, and no one is analyzing or questioning why both picks were used to select guards when the team is already loaded with players at that position.

Mr. Metalhead seems to endorse the idea of drafting for need as opposed to best player available. Discounting the fact that outside the top 3 this year the talent drop-off was precipitous, what the Pistons desperately need is defensive intensity and outside shooting -- things that Thompson and Sasser respectively bring irrespective of position.
I'm compelled to bring up the case where Portland passed up Michael Jordan for Sam Bowie because the team "needed" a center.
