I think my former college classmate and current Bucks GM Jon Horst made the right move.

Bucks fans seem quite happy with the decision.

LMAO - Troy Weaver evidently doesn't get to pick the new head coach. Gores will. Why doesn't Gores just chop off Weaver's balls?

Collins is the only candidate among these three that seems plausibly decent. The other two are garbage, especially Ollie.

Meeting with the owner is not neutering the GM in any sense.

Seems unusual for multiple candidates to meet with the owner.

No one knows what Dwane Casey's actual duties are these days. Google searches simply indicate "he is a member of the front office." Is he taking Weaver's job? Is he taking over the woman abuser's former job? Will he simply be serving in an advisory capacity?

This is one hella fucked up organization.

Monty Williams? No thanks. He deserved to be shitcanned in Phoenix. They had a disappointing season relative to expectation. Both Devin Booker and Chris Paul wanted him gone.

Tom Gores will likely fuck up this hire, in part because he has Diddly Dee (Troy Weaver) and Diddly Dum (Dwane Casey) likely advising.

What I'm saying is Monty Williams is perhaps no better than Dwane Casey. They both suck. Is Gores intentionally refusing to interview Caucasians for the opening?

That's probably what's happening. Troy Weaver was hired on 6/18/20, just as George Floyd Summer was heating up. He probably feels that he has some kind of sociopolitical mandate to hire a black coach.

Monty Williams reportedly tells the Pistons, "Thanks, but no thanks!"

He evidently realizes this team is FUBAR.

Troy Weaver allegedly wants to hire Kevin Ollie per various sources (that would indeed be a terrible hire, btw). Gores evidently feels very differently and wants to make overrated Monty Williams an offer he cannot refuse.

If Gores cannot see eye to eye with his GM regarding head coaches, then why does Gores continue to employ Weaver?

Monty Williams agrees to a 6 year, $72M deal. Gores is certainly entitled to spend his money how he wishes - I hope this works out.

Make that $78.5 million.

It's an absurdly high price tag, but as much as I feel Williams is overrated, I'd rather have him than the other two candidates who were under consideration.

Everyone has a price, I guess. If nothing else, Williams and his agent are impressive negotiators.

I am going to guess that giant pile of money is not 100% guaranteed?
If they wanted to part ways after 2 or 3 years how much would they still have to pay?

I like the hire of Monty Williams everyone has a price, I agree if Gores & Weaver don't see eye to eye on coaches it's time for Troy to be let go very glad Kevin Ollie wasn't named head coach.
