Looking back over the length of this thread it's apparent that season-long predictions for the Tigers' ending record were all over the map. Currently they're on a pace for 72 wins with the remainder of the schedule not all that intimidating; only the three games with the Dodgers in L.A. scare me. I'd consider losing less than 90 games to be a successful season considering the new front office regime and all the roster maneuvering which Harris and Hinch had to contend with due to both injuries and examination of current options in the organization.

It's heartening to see this regime not be pressed into bringing up young players before they're ready in all facets of the game.

I was impressed when Scott Harris made that comment. I'm optimistic that he will make patient, thoughtful decisions. He probably won't make the kind of decisions that helped lead the Tigers to their current state:

• Giving Miguel Cabrera a lifetime contract in 2014, instead of just extending him to his age 35 season, then trading him to his hometown and original team, the Marlins.

• Giving the general manager job to loyal soldier Al Avila in 2015 after they fired Dave Dombrowski, instead of making Avila the interim GM and conducting a thorough search for a new GM.

• Keeping Brad Ausmus after his second season in 2015, when it was obvious he wasn't going to be a successful manager.

This crazy team is now an even .500 on the road for the season after sweeping the White Sox.

In fact, there are only 6 teams in the AL with a better road winning percentage than the Tigers.

Yet, this goofy team is a disappointing 29-40 at home.

Houston is another team with a considerably better road record than home record.

We all need to pray like crazy that Javier Baez opts out of his contract after this season (he probably won't; he is absurdly overcompensated if he stays here.). Baez is the gift that keeps on giving from Al Avila.

His last five starts have been just putrid.

Speaking of Al Avila, I'll just leave this right here (don't forget to scroll to the bottom to see how little Mr. Paredis is making this year for damn near all-star caliber production; suffice it to say he has a gigantic and well deserved pay raise coming his way during the upcoming offseason and has been criminally underpaid this season):

The also have a 28-15 record in their division, one of the best in baseball. If MLB hadn't reduced division games from 76 to 52 this year, they'd probably be pretty close to first place.

Outside of the Dodgers in L.A., no other team looks intimidating. We have several games against the A's, the Royals, and the next three at home against the ChiSux. I'm looking for a strong finish, though both Riley Greene and Matt Manning may be done for the season.

Only in a pig's eye ...but that's not really the goal here, is it? I'd just like to see some momentum heading into the off-season, especially with the younger core players. It's conceivable we could sniff .500, but I'm not counting on it.
