Two powerhouses play tonight! The Pistons versus the Rockets.

Right now, Houston is 1.5 games worse than the Pistons!
But they don't have the A++ coaching the Pistons have.

The ice storm in Dallas has stranded the Pistons in Texas. This has caused the game against Washington to be postponed.

Well… they can’t lose it at least.

Charlotte scored 30 points off 23 Piston turnovers. Lucky for them it was the Hornets. I'll take the win at this point.

Another great performance for Detroit last night!

These assholes charge a face value of $52 per ticket for nose bleed seats for home games. Who in their right mind would pay that?

So the Pistons make one trade at today's deadline, and the general consensus seems to be that Troy Weaver got fleeced.

I mean, if you knew you were getting rid of Saddiq Bey to start with, wouldn't you rather have had the five picks from Atlanta instead of the rotting corpse of James Wiseman? Why involve Golden State at all?

MW, I know you soured on Dwane Casey a little while back. Probably time to sour on Weaver and the front office too. Casey just said the other day how he was looking forward to next season being much better, but this doesn't seem like a positive at all.

It will be fun to see how the Detroit sportswriters spin this trade. Weaver will probably be described as a "dynamic, risk-taking young GM who's not afraid to shake up the roster to improve the team."

MichMash - I agree 100 percent!

Just what the Pistons needed; another damn reclamation project. Weaver sucks.

Wiseman stinks, and he'll probably have recurring injury issues. They should've dealt Bey to Atlanta directly and gotten the multiple draft picks in return (even though they're all second round picks).

Better yet - they should've kept Bey and surrounded him with coaches and talent next season who could've maximized his potential. I think Dwane the Pain is a big reason for his lackluster performance season to date.

Mike Curtis is the black Chris McCosky; fucking awful beat writer.

I'm suuuuuuuuure the so called "league source" he quoted is a disinterested party. What a joke.

Here is a syrupy article from Shawn Windsor. Is he regurgitating talking points being fed to him by the Pistons front office? I will say he at least put more thought into his article than Curtis, but like Curtis, he is seemingly defending the trade as a good move.

This paragraph by Curtis was particularly bad. He's definitely in the Pistons' pocket.
The Pistons have always been a destination for players to earn second and sometimes third chances to figure things out in the league. Marvin Bagley III was acquired at the trade deadline last season after a difficult start to his career in Sacramento. Hamidou Diallo has arguably played his best basketball since entering the league over the last month or so. Knox proved in his brief time with the team that he can serve as a viable shooter.
Bey's upside included a 51-point game last year. Wiseman's covered in red flags (suspension, injuries, a lot of recent bench time).

I agree, Bobbert.

Here is a more reasonable analysis of the deal from John Niyo, who is one of the better sports writers in this town:

The trade isn't official yet.

The Warriors traded for Gary Payton II, who is coming off abdominal surgery & might not pass his physical exams.

They have until Saturday to go with the deal or rescind it.
