The Lions will win 8-9 games minimum.
:lol :rollin :lol

I can't help but notice Matt hasn't posted in this thread in a while. Lions currently down 26-zip, having lost literally FIVE linebackers to injury in one single game.

As MW said a few years ago in here, this franchise is "an exercise in futility." My favorite quote about this team to date.

I was predicting 6 or 7 total wins this year, and I'm now thinking that prediction of mine was overly optimistic.

I knew the Lions would lose today, but even I'm surprised by how awful they've played and by the injury count. We literally turned the game on as FOX was returning from break to show the ambulance at mid field. By halftime, we turned off the game in disgust and began playing cards instead.

Today's lesson (yet again) - if you have a future prospect quarterback on your team and want to get him his first start and some experience, just wait until you play against the Lions.

I'll predict it now - the Lions end up dead last in ESPN's power rankings after all the games are played this week. They're the worst team in the NFL. And their defense may well be the worst defense of any NFL team in at least the past 10 years.

I'd be furious right now if I were a Falcons fan.

I'm predicting another loss against New England next week. That would put the Lions at 1-4 heading into the bye week.

Has anyone heard Campbell's rationale for going for it on 4th and nine on the cusp of field goal range? I haven't. I know about the new kicker we signed, but still....

He'd better wise up fast before he loses the team.

Campbell coaches football the way most people who play video games play Madden football.

I always went for a Hail Mary or other deep shot… to hell with being realistic.

Campbell might have lost the team already.

On my way to work this morning, I caught the segment on 97.1 where TJ Lang, the Lions' radio sideline reporter, joined Stoney and Jansen, and he had some interesting observations. Namely, the last two games, he noted the lack of fire and spirit on the Lions sideline. Players will return to the bench and just sit down and stare at the ground while coaches have their noses buried in their tablets. No veteran presence walking up and down the bench trying to fire guys up. Now, I'm not so naive to think that rah-rah stuff is a big thing in the pro game, but Lang played in the league and won a Super Bowl, and if he thinks the rah-rah stuff is needed, then it probably matters that it's missing from the Lions.

Both Jansen and Lang also had interesting takes on how the Lions organization compares to other NFL teams in how they provide for their players. Jansen has said that during his time with the (former) Washington Redskins, the team's facilities were 30 years old and had to convert a basketball arena into a team dining room. Lang's experience with the Packers noted that since the team is publicly owned, considerable money is pumped back into the team's operation, in the manner of having state-of-the-art training facilities and giving the players everything they need. Lang and Jansen both were quick to say that the Lions are among the best in the league, with state-of-the-art facilities and exceeding the norm on things like player treatment, nutrition, physical therapy, day care for players' families on game days, etc., all things that seemingly matter to players. But they have no answer on why it doesn't translate into on-field success.

A caller to today's show laid a lot of blame at Chris Spielman's feet. Blamed him, as having no previous managerial experience, for his role in hiring the inexperienced Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes, as well as hiring a coach before hiring a GM, which is the reverse of how it's usually done in the NFL. The hosts were not quick to support that, as they claim no one knows how much influence Spielman had in those decisions.

Death, taxes, and the Lions losing. I called it quits when Aaron Rodgers threw the Hail Mary TD. This team is cursed. The only way to break it is for the Fords to sell.

That’s what the curse is supposed to be actually.

The Bye week will be good for them. Bye frequently never shows up for their games, and when they do, they are even worse than the Lions. My prediction: Lions 42, Bye 7.
