I've see C. J. Stroud as the Lions pick on a couple mock drafts.

Who do we have as a backup now?

Nate Sudfeld--yeah, I hadn't heard of him either.

Drafting a QB that high would be for only one purpose, to sit for a year or two. I can't believe a team on the cusp of playoff contention would "waste" a first round pick on a position of no immediate need.

The Lions are in a good position to trade down should a quarterback-needy team present itself and Stroud is still on the board.

I'm not convinced Stroud is the answer, and I agree the Lions have plenty more pressing needs. And there is no reason to decide on Goff, cut or extend him, this year.

I dunno, I'm seeing more and more mocks with the Lions taking either QB Will Levis at #6 or Anthony Richardson at #18, the reason being the Lions won't be drafting this high again in the near future and Goff is signed for only two more years. Hmmm....I just can't see it, unless Holmes is thoroughly enamored with what he sees in either of them.

There are other mocks I'm reading that are either ignorant or pure fantasy, especially the ones with trades. I think I'm gonna take a break till after the combines.

I generally agree with all the above comments. Where was Hutchinson the whole game? I didn't hear his name called once except for the usual "playing for his home team" bullshit. The Eagles' OTs looked as if they handled him quite, uh, handily. He certainly didn't contain Hurts in the least!

Looking at the game stats, Hutchinson was credited with one assisted tackle. Welcome to the NFL, son. Meanwhile, rookie LB Rodriguez looked pretty awesome.

I can't help but notice Matt hasn't posted in this thread in a while. Lions currently down 26-zip, having lost literally FIVE linebackers to injury in one single game.

As MW said a few years ago in here, this franchise is "an exercise in futility." My favorite quote about this team to date.

Dan Campbell is a great guy but a terrible head football coach. Why on earth didn't he punt on 4th down on the Lions' final drive? He is very, very lucky Green Bay did not score on its final drive. Officiating was really bad. Lions got away with one if not two penalties on Green Bay's final drive.

All that said, I'm happy Green Bay suffered a humiliating defeat. To score only 9 on the Lions is unbelievable.

I definitely have a much higher opinion of Campbell's coaching abilities now than this point last season. He has earned my trust at this point.
