The Tigers must go 12-18 or better the rest of the way to avoid a 100 loss season. Good luck to them.
Yikes. Beats 43-119 at least.
It was a big disappointment. They need the following to compete next year: a new GM, a new hitting coach, new pitching coach, new conditioning coach, closer, a good DH bat, a new SS, a new 2B, two new starting pitchers, and a new commentator for radio. Other than that, they are great.
So tear down Comerica Park and move to the little league field up the street while they are at it?
No, Comerica is fine.

I still love the franchise, unlike Matt who hates America's game altogether.
Untrue, football is great!
Historically Football isn’t Americas game. Nice try.

What's more pathetic: harassing an old man who is paying to do a radio show or supporting a grifter like Trump?

I'd honestly like to see the tigers relocate or become a minor league team.
The Tigers already are a minor league team!

They have the talent, sports science capabilities and attendance levels of one.

Baseball is America's game, not football. I love football, but it doesn't have the history of baseball.

If this hire is true, consider me impressed!

Edit - Tigers have confirmed the hire:

(I should've known mullet man would have confirmation before McCosky the Grouch.)

Sounds like a great hire. If Ilitch is smart enough to let him make all the decisions and just sign the checks, the Tigers are headed back to contention.

I wonder if he thought his job was in jeopardy? The Giants have had a very disappointing year, but they were great last season.

I cannot help but think of Bob Quinn (Lions), but I am optimistic this situation will turn out differently.

You're just shitting on him because he's young? Not a good look...

Not "shitting on him", merely wary. As a fervent fan I wish him great success. Randy Smith and the aforementioned Bob Quinn both seemingly had a narrow purview in their relationships with the rest of the league. That's not necessarily a bad thing as I've always been a proponent of a "homegrown" team and our young new President of Baseball Operations has explicitly stated in his remarks that an improvement in player development will be a top priority.

GM Jon Horst of the Bucks (fellow alum and fellow senior project pal of mine) won a championship last year at 38. Let the haters hate. In the words of Al Davis: Just win!

All good points. What might make him stand out from Smith and Quinn was the time he spent with Theo Epstein in Chicago. Harris seemed like he was a more integral part of the Cubs operation than Quinn in New England. And Smith didn't have Harris's resume when he was hired by the Tigers in the fall of 1995. I think Smith made a big impression because of his youth and some improvement in the San Diego Padres after he took over as GM.

He might have sensed he was on a sinking ship. The Giants had one of those strangely unique years in 2021 when everything came together with a group of veteran players. This year they look like they have fallen back to what could reasonably be expected with their roster. And they're not getting any younger.

What if the Tigers and Mud Hens traded places? Would it work out better?
