Well, so much for 0-17. :lol

This stupid game cost me my teaser bet. Hit all the other legs of the bet. All I needed here was Over 34. So basically, ANY SCORE (other than a safety) in the final 21 minutes and 31 seconds of the game. And can anybody so much as kick a field goal in 21:31? OF COURSE NOT.

I will never ever again bet in any way shape or form on a Lions game. That is a joke. Statistically when the game was first tied at 16-16 the odds of it going over 34 at that moment in time had to be at 99 percent.

Ironically, Lions had a chance at scoring a safety on Steelers' second to last OT possession. Of course, Pittsburgh's QB easily completed a pass (line of scrimmage was the Steelers own 5) for a 1st down and faced very little pressure.

If the Lions go 0-16-1, there is a good chance that record will never ever be repeated...I will acknowledge that much.

Wasn't that in the 2nd to last regulation possession? I thought that came at around 5 minutes left in regulation. Which, at the time, I was relieved it didn't get called because I thought with the Lions having to kick it away, the game might literally end 18-16.

Still though, from a betting standpoint, I can't imagine that the odds of the final 11:34 of regulation plus an entire OT going scoreless are any higher than 1 percent.

On the bright side, the Lions are now technically on a 2-week no losing streak!

Goff barely had 100 yards passing.

In a 70 minute game.

I didn't have the TV on when the one you mentioned occurred, bmw. I turned on the TV just as OT was beginning.

So, the Lions blew more opportunities than I realized. Why am I not surprised? LOL

Goff had only 54 or 55 yards total passing in regulation; a truly terrible performance. I said in the off-season he should not be viewed as a long term solution for QB for this team and that no one should be excited by his arrival.

I guess I mis-read your post. The STEELERS nearly scored a safety as they tackled Goff in the end zone but forward progress was marked at the 2. Lions then punted.

Seems like the Lions had always had a bright spot in their kickers, like Jason Hanson and Matt Prater (and a few others). What happened??

I didn't see much of the game, but was Goff getting any protection at all?? Seems all the plays I did see he was running backwards and scrambling.

If you wanna get technical, kicker Santoso lost the game by missing an extra point and a forty-something yard field goal...but the game is played "in the moment" and neither team could adequately adjust to the slick field conditions. Santoso, a practice squad call-up in regular kicker Siebert's injury absence, had a previous career long FG of only 35 yards. That potential game-winner in OT was so poor one has to wonder if there was an extraneous circumstance at play.

One thing about Goff is his terrible pocket presence; there are too many times when he bails out of the pocket prematurely. As has been mentioned by someone here previously, he also makes terrible reads, seemingly fixating on a prime receiver. And some of his throws into coverage simply beggar belief! Admittedly, some of this can be blamed on poor play design, a bad receiving corps, and a collapsing pocket.
I agree, I don't see Goff as a long-term answer at the position, not unless something overly prodigious occurs in the future, or maybe getting some receivers who can actually create separation.

I'll get on board the Kool-Aid wagon and say it was a very gutsy team performance and bodes, uh, not so terrible.

After listening to people in here endlessly criticize Matthew Stafford's performance in Detroit in the past and now endlessly criticize Goff today, I think it is a good time to point out Stafford's stats in LA:

111.0 Passer rating (rank #1 overall)
68.2% Completion (rank #5 overall)
2771 Passing yards (rank #4 overall)
23-6 TD-INT (rank #3 overall in TD)

Those stats arguably make Stafford the best quarterback in the league - and certainly top 5.

Goff, on the other hand, is on a completely hopeless team - one that overall is far worse than the average team Stafford played for during his time in Detroit. So let's look back just 3 years to the 2018-2019 season (the year LA went to the Super Bowl) and take a look at Goff's stats and compare them to Stafford's that year:

101.1 Passer rating (rank #8 overall) vs 89.9 for Stafford (ranked #25)
64.9 Completion (rank #20 overall) vs 66.1 for Stafford (ranked #15)
4688 Passing yards (rank #4 overall) vs 3777 for Stafford (ranked #16)
32-12 TD-INT (rank #6 overall in TD) vs 21-11 for Stafford (ranked #18 in TD)

So there you have it - Goff a top 10 QB in LA with Stafford right in the middle of the pack in Detroit.

Face it. DETROIT IS A CITY WHERE PLAYERS WHO WANT THEIR CAREER TO GO NOWHERE GO TO PLAY

Not only players, but head coaches! :lol I actually thought Jim Schwartz would get another NFL head coaching gig and break the schneid. His name popped up in speculation for open HC jobs in recent years, but he chose to take time off from the game instead.

By the way, Stafford and the Rams are on a two-game losing streak. :hat

During the 2000s, when I used to see a Liedowns NFL football game on Dish Network's electronic programming guide, I used to decide to watch something else instead of watching the Detroit Liedowns football game because of me already knowing that they are going to lose it. It seems like those days are making a comeback. By the way, I still can't get over the fact that one of the Detroit Liedowns players had pulled a Dominic Raiola a few weeks ago and got into an argument with the Liedowns assistant coach.

As someone who lives in Michigan, I think it is embarrassing how the Lions are playing horrible football.

Fuck Putin.

Jared has been awful, the play calling has been awful (run up the middle with a 3rd and 15). The WR's amount to day laborers they picked up a Home Depot before the game.
