I realize Morris apologized for this shortly afterward when it was brought to his attention that his comment could be considered offensive, so maybe he actually was mocking an Asian accent and he needed to apologize. But, am I the only one that, at first, thought he maybe was doing an Elmer Fudd impersonation? I mean, in the moment, to me it sounded like it could pass for Fudd in his "be vewy careful, we're hunting wabbits" mode. After all, Morris made the comment in direct response to Matt Shepard's question about how to pitch to Ohtani.

Did Chris Myers (NFL, Fox Sports broadcaster) get suspended when he said during a Lions game that going from playing for Pittsburgh to playing for Detroit is like going from dating Beyonce to dating Whoopi Goldberg? I don't think so.

"The Asian American Journalists Association Sports Task Force is disappointed and disturbed by Morris’ attempt to provide analysis on a live broadcast in this manner, especially at a time when Asians in the United States are experiencing a sharp increase in anti-Asian hate, which is resulting in harassment and attacks," the association's statement continued. "In his analysis, would Morris have used an accent for an African-American player? A Hispanic or Latin player? An Irish or Italian player? Morris, a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, should be held to a higher standard while serving a regional and national audience."

I, too, thought he was doing a Fudd impression. He used a classic Fudd line, too.

If he had stated that during his apology, he probably would've faced no further repercussions.

I agree that an indefinite suspension is an overreaction.

I will say this - it is no secret Mr. Morris was a complete ASSHOLE during his playing days. Did that cloud judgment of his intentions here? Possibly.

Well, I just lost any respect I had for the Asian American Journalists Association Sports Task Force!!! That's pretty bad, because I didn't have much to start with, so now they're in very negative territory.
