Detroit Tigers 2021

I think the Kitties could use one of those Star Trek replicators to manufacture a run. :rolleyes It's somewhat disheartening to hear commentators suggest Miggy's return from another biceps injury can jumpstart the offense. :? He's been having trouble turning on a fastball the last couple years. His quest for 3000 hits and 500 homers may be the team's offensive story of the entire season. If it wasn't for Baddoo, where would this team be at this early stage?

Meanwhile, the pitching has been mostly adequate or better. Boyd's looking sharp as has Fulmer returning to a starting role. The kids Mize and Skubal are up and down as expected. Urena looks serviceable. The bullpen? Eh.

I can't watch the Tigers, they are so bad, so boring, and WTF why hasn't Mize started to develop yet? Why do I get to see him get lit up , but other rookie pitchers drafted after him are at least consistent. Another boring baseball summer in store at the corner of Montcalm & Whitherell....

What rookie pitchers are consistent? We don't even have a full month of the season under our belts. Worry about the offense. Can't win when you can't cross home plate.

You got that right, MCRF. Starting pitching is 11th in ERA. Not bad, given the youth and lack of star pitchers. The issues are that the offense can’t hit a drum and the bullpen is as horrible as it’s been for the last 20 years.

What’s most disheartening is that the Royals started rebuilding AFTER the Tigers and, at an early glance, are progressing much faster.

Goodness gracious, Baddoo hits a lead-off triple in the bottom of the ninth to represent the tying run and...wait for it...wait for it...he didn't score! :rolleyes :rolleyes

Whatever new hitting coach Scott Coolbaugh is teaching these guys about making contact and plate discipline is making Legendary Lloyd look like a genius.

I can't quite get why they released CJ Cron. He only had played 14 games before his knee injury last year. He's already hit 3 home runs and therefore on pace to hit 18 for the Rockies. He hit 25 for Minnesota in 2019 and 30 the year before that, so there is potential there.

He wasn't released, he was a free agent after his one-year contract with the Tigers. I believe he signed with the Rockies for the Major League minimum; i.e., a "prove it" contract following his return from serious injury.

After Mize’s horrible spring, I thought there was no way he’d be brought up to Detroit and would be starting in Toledo. He had one good outing in Lakeland and they brought him up. He’s had one good outing this year for his first MLB win but hasn’t proved himself otherwise. He seems to be a big kink in their starting rotation.

Our starting pitchers aren’t doing too bad but they need run support

I admire your optimism, MCRF.

I originally had this team going 70-92. With what I’ve seen so far, I’ll be shocked if they don’t drop over 105. Their negative run differential is equal to that of the next three worst COMBINED.

Again, I’m so disappointed in how this rebuild has been going so far.

From what I've seen so far, this team may come close to the 114 losses of the 2018 team. I hope they prove me wrong. Being a life long Tiger and Baseball fan, I still watch or listen to just about every Tiger game.
