The doctor implicated in the reports, Robert E. Anderson, was former director of the University Health Service and spent several years as a top physician for football teams led by former coaches Bo Schembechler and Lloyd Carr.

And meanwhile, at Cedar Village, they are starting fires and pointing fingers.

This illustrates that bad stuff can happen anywhere, and that is unfortunate. I'm happy to see that, at least on the surface, this appears to be a proper response. An external firm has been hired AFTER Michigan went through the proper law enforcement protocols when they were made aware of the allegations. It's worth noting that there is a strong chance AD Warde Manuel was treated by this doctor when he was a student-athlete in the 80s.

Proper response? It was covered up for decades and the current staff kept it hush hush for 2 years since the latest came out.

Bias much? You absolutely ream MSU for this kind of stuff and all you can muster against U of M is that bad stuff can happen anywhere?

I've NEVER pointed at MSU for the events that continue to happen there, not even for Nassar. It's all about the response to the allegations. MSU still has not had an independent investigation into Nassar or into the rampant sexual assaults by basketball and football players. You can't be that fucking dense.

Michigan football covered up rape allegations and threats of violence, then lied about it - people need to be fired immediately

You are splitting hairs... You involve MSU and it’s Administration whenever you accuse them of not following through on something. Crickets when the Michigan equivalents have some scandal...

The motherfucker died 12 years ago and retired 17 years ago. He wasn't actively seeing patients in August, 2018. At that point, any investigation would have been focused on determining if anyone else was complicit. It appears the university followed an appropriate process.

Warde Manuel was notified in July 2018, per the article. So 1 year and 7 months is "an appropriate process"? Yes this schmuck is already dead, but it's hardly like UM dropped everything to reach out to the victims when in actuality it took almost 2 years (and the info getting out in the media) for them to make a move.

Such a fucking hypocrite.

What happened with MSU and Nassar was beyond sickening. There isn't a word I can use that is strong enough to express my disgust with the culpable people in my beloved university. Nassar should be tortured. Lou Ann Simon should be thrown in jail for the rest of her days. But the way the Detroit media, ESPN, and asshole UM alums like Matt tried to tie in Izzo and Dantonio into the scandal is utterly shameful. Watch and see how this plays out, they will continue to paint an MSU gymnastics doctor as a bigger reflection of MSU Football....than a UM football doctor as a reflection of UM Football. ESPN actually had a three-picture graphic showing Izzo, Dantonio, and Nassar when they "reported" on that story. Will they have a graphic of Bo and this scum when they report on this story? Will they even report on this story?

I agree that Matt is a hypocrite. Why I'm not going to be surprised if more colleges have these types of problems since it isn't a PSU, MSU, OSU & Michigan problem etc. MSU should've clean house a lot sooner when the Larry Nassar scandal hit the fan I wish Larry was in general pop and not in the hole and I hope the former MSU president is found guilty as well for her cover-up and lying to the police & feds.

Olympic wrestler adds to sexual abuse allegations against UM doctor

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/ ... 111339196/

From the article: Manly urged the university to ensure that alleged victims have a neutral third party, either law enforcement or a counseling service, to call to discuss what happened to them. He said he is concerned that the school has asked people to reach out directly through the hotline.

“My experience has been that’s much more about liability protection than helping the victims,” Manly said. “It’s really important that one of America’s greatest universities act like it and treat these people not as adversaries but as people that are injured and that deserve support. My fear is that’s not happening.”

This is beyond true. If you have been wronged by somebody, particularly a person or company with deep pockets, the last thing you want to do is freely discuss the details of your case with one of their representatives. This is a tactic used heavily by insurance companies and other big businesses with catastrophic consequences for injured claimants.

It’s significant that Michigan didn’t seek collaboration with a neutral third party that is equipped to handle this situation. Instead, Michigan immediately sought legal counsel, whose strategy included establishing this University “hotline.” So now it appears that not only has the University of Michigan administration and athletics staff (among others) been covering up a massive sexual abuse scandal within their football program for decades, but now that the news has broken, they are spending massive amounts of money manipulating and silencing the victims.
