Nope, Matt Stafford shouldn't be moving best Lions QB ever and Quinn said WDIV report was 100% false which was fake news by WDIV.

Because Quinn would say “yes! Trade that son of a bitch!”? Of course he denied it... they always do...

Best ever? Bobby Layne won a championship and is in the Hall of Fame.

Lions would take a H*** salary cap hit if they traded Stafford this year, the way his contract bonus is structured. If they were smart, they would draft Tua, and let him sit and learn behind Matt for a year. Next year they can trade Stafford and get a few draft picks, and they will have Tua on his rookie contract still for a few years. But using the word "smart" and "Lions" in the same sentence is never wise.

Even coming off hip surgery and with all the other needs of the team? I'd have to shy away from that. You already have a top-flight QB (okay, upper mid-flight) and a chance to make hay in the draft, whether sticking at #3 or trading down. Sure, keep Tua in the mix as a smokescreen, but don't draft a QB till the later rounds...if at all.

I say wait until next year to draft a QB, and definitely do it in round one. QBs drafted in lower rounds far less often turn out to be franchise type players...at least that's what the pundits claim.

I share your concerns, moldy, on Tua. Why gamble?

Me personally, I think Stafford will go Miggy.
He gets more money than any player should make, whether he plays or not.
He'll get out there, putz around as much as he wants, not quite give it his all, and cash the cheques.

Here's where I got the idea: https://sports.yahoo.com/how-to-fix-the ... 06267.html

I just think when you're the Lie-downs and HAVE WON ONE PLAYOFF GAME IN 60+ YEARS, you gotta take chances.

If you could get something for Stafford, trade him. Who cares about the dead money? He’s done zilch his entire career.

I would not draft Tua due to injury concerns. Assuming the Redskins don’t draft a QB, there are plenty of options.

I'm not sold on Tua I wouldn't draft him at 3 I want D with the number 3 pick DB from OSU or trade down to those QB needy teams. Layne & Stafford are the only good QB's in Lions history which doesn't say much.

Scott Mitchell and Rodney Peete werent THAT bad either... they had playoff appearances in the 90’s and although Barry Sanders was a big part of that they couldn’t have Sanders and an atrocious quarterback and make the playoffs anyways...

Erik Kramer won a playoff game. Sadly he didn’t stick around long, for several reasons.
