I’m a realist. Beating Rutgers- which is only in the Big Ten because of the New York City market- means nothing. It should be expected for a program of Michigan’s stature. It does not change my opinion that Harbaugh needs to go.

This beatdown led to Rutgers firing their coach

The comments on this story are great! Folks are up in arms on the state of coaching salaries and Chris Ash's $8,000,000+ buyout. Other folks (just like me!) are wondering what the hell Rutgers is doing in the Big10! :lol

I clearly remember Northwestern being the brainy red-headed perennial doormat of the Big10, but today they are athletically competitive. I guess it all takes time and a decent amount of conference media revenue sharing.

Based on performance and history, Rutgers belongs nowhere near the Big Ten. It’s because they can go after the New York City market that they are in the conference, ignoring the fact the people there do not care about college football.

The area of New Jersey around Rutgers seems to have good HS football teams (among the best northeast of a line running roughly from Cleveland to Philadelphia)

The defense looked very good today. The offense on the other hand is still a dumpster fire.

Shea is the problem. He's not a threat in the run game and he can't see open receivers.

Then why did Harbaugh recruit him so hard? He’s had years to find his guy. No more excuses.

After reviewing the stats, I've changed my mind. Matt is absolutely right; Shea Patterson needs to be benched.

Passing yardage and completion percentage today were each pitiful.

On third down on offense, Michigan stinks.

He was highly rated coming out of High School by every major recruiting service.
To quote Wikipedia
Patterson was rated by all four of the major recruiting services (Scout.com, Rivals.com, ESPN, and 247Sports.com) as the best pro-style quarterback in his class.[10][11][12][13] He was regarded as a 5-star prospect by Scout, Rivals, and 247Sports, and a 4-star by ESPN. He was the 4th-highest rated recruit overall on the 247Sports Composite, which aggregates the ratings of the four recruiting services.[13]
While his first two years at Ole Miss did not set the world on fire his potential upside was still looking good. One of my concern's is that Harbaugh can't seem to get the best out of his players.

I just looked this up and I am NOT DEFENDING the offensive performance but Iowa defensively was ranked 5th in the country for total defense and 3rd in the country for points (not) allowed. And they did come in ranked 14th in the polls.

Illinois is terrible, so now would be the time to make a QB change. Ease him in before the tough part of the schedule.

Couldn't agree with you Michigan fans more.....they have got to make a QB change if they want to salvage this season. Problem is Jimmy sure doesn't seem to be talking like he's gonna do it. And playing Illinois is only going to make it harder because even Patterson will probably look good against Lovie's bunch. Christ, EMU torched the Illinois defense.

There are 2 more sure losses on the Michigan schedule. Probably three, possibly 4, and 5 isn't out of the question.
