Dumping Stanley Johnson = SMART MOVE!!!
It's interesting that Johnson's minutes per game with the Pelicans are nearly half that with the Pistons, only eleven per game, especially considering that the Pelicans are shutting down several of their players. Johnson's shooting has deteriorated to a point where he's become a liability on the court despite his defensive tenacity and versatility. Hopefully N.O. Coach Alvin Gentry can reinstill some confidence in the young man.

Meanwhile, Thon Maker looks like a great fit off the bench for Detroit.

This team is a joke! They now have lost 4 straight, 2 to go, fallen all the way back to the 8-seed and now risk not even making the playoffs. Before their 4-game skid, they were rated 99.9 percent to make the playoffs.

With Griffin out for a spell and now playing hobbled, it shows what he's means to this team and how the on-court chemistry has been altered for the worse.

I wrote this on December 31:
...In the meantime, we are still stuck with a squad that has no better than a 50/50 chance sneaking into the postseason. If they make it, they'll wind up as an eighth or seventh seed and will be completely uncompetitive against whichever team they face.
I never believed this team was a lock to make the playoffs, and I laughed when I read the articles and expert analysis claiming the team had a 99.9 percent chance of making the postseason. Positions 6 through 10 in the East were still fairly tightly packed when that edict was made.

Watch the Pistons wind up tied with Charlotte after all 82 games are played. I am fairly certain the Hornets hold the tie-breaker in that scenario.

Not only that, but if it weren't for Miami's equal meltdown also losing their last 4 games, Detroit could already be on the outside looking in - they're lucky to even control their own destiny. They're heavy favorites though in their final 2 games against two of the worst teams in the league.

They'll probably draw Milwaukee in the first round - against whom they're 0-4 this season with 3 of those losses being double digits. In other words, their odds of seeing the second round of the playoffs sit at about 1 percent.

If you want to vomit projectiles - take a glance at tonight's starting ilneup for the Pistons.

The Pistons don't deserve to make the post season. I want to remove the opportunity for the Pistons and their P.R. hacks to spin this season's performance as some sort of success.

The team is filled with lazy slouches who don't like to play defense.

Will the "real" Detroit Pistons please stand up!

I can think of a lot of lousier ways to spend my Wednesday evening...

Wow do the Knicks suck. Detroit led by as much as 40 in this one.

The 8th seed it is. Vs Milwaukee.

Any team that affords Henry Ellenson substantial minutes has gotta be bad. Yeah, they indeed suck -- perfect timing!

Big time cap space and overwhelming odds to land Zion will make the Knicks a team to beware of next year. I'm sure the commissioner will be gaga and the national pundits will be all over it.

Meanwhile, the Christians (Pistons) will be fed to the lions (Bucks).

This will be the first year LeBron won't be in the playoffs since early in his first stint in Cleveland

Correct, as both his current team (Lakers) and his previous team (Cleveland) failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The L.A. Clippers / Pistons trade from last season will go down as one of the worst trade deals in Detroit sports history, IMO. The Blake Griffin contract is like an albatross around the Pistons' necks.
SEE, I TOLD YA SO!!!! :horns

...And they are proving that once again tonight.

What? He didn't even play! Injuries happen. Otherwise, he's had a career season! You didn't expect to beat the Bucks with or without him, did you? :rolleyes

If you'd like, maybe we can trade him and half the team to the Knicks for their lottery pick. They've got plenty of cap space. (sarcasm)
