1979-80 was when they fired Dick Vitale.

That team lost 14 straight to finish the year, and started 0-7 the next season.

This was during the Silverdome era which made nobody there look even more ridiculous. Being on the road was terrible too, they were 3-38.

Yikes, I forgot about them playing there… that would be quite a sight…

They are playing so poorly that Mike Curtis of the Detroit News might not be able to hand out any A-for-effort grades at mid-season.

Mike Curtis is the black version of Chris McCosky.

I wish Rod Beard were still covering the Pistons beat.

Here is a decent article from Marlowe Alter regarding how awful Troy Weaver's Pistons are:

Grizzlies 116, Pistons 102. Detroit is now 2-19.

Usual stats, 17 turnovers with 21 points off them.

Outscored 34-18 in the fourth quarter.

Duren got hurt yet again late in the game. Epic disaster all the way around.

Monty Williams is in over his head (no wonder PHX shitcanned him), and Troy Weaver completely blew $30 million last summer.

So the Pistons already hold the NBA record for most consecutive playoff losses at 14. Now they're quickly climbing the ranks in competition for the longest ever regular season losing streak.

Imagine what an honor it would be to hold both active records at the same time :lol

We hold the 8th longest already... 21 games. The last 14 of the 1979-80 season as well as the first 7 from 1980-81. I have strong doubts they will win 10 this year.

The 1972-73 Sixers hold the worst record ever in a season at 9-73.

Bob Wojnowski - who very seldom writes highly critical opinion pieces like this - wrote a blistering criticism of Troy Weaver and (correctly) is calling for his dismissal at the end of the season barring a dramatic turnaround in win-loss performance:

No, he isn't. He's suggesting at the end of the season if things don't improve.

You are correct; I've since fixed my earlier post.

It's not that they don't love to win, it's that they don't hate to lose.

Well put, and probably accurate to a disappointing extent. Bojan's addressing the team is a good sign at least SOMEONE hates to lose.

Orlando won big tonight. Pistons are 2-20.

Serious question? How are the Pistons doing with radio listeners. They had Neal Ruhl filling in for Champion tonight.

Reiger sucks on the Pistons broadcast. He knows zero about basketball awareness.

I unfortunately left the radio on after the game. 97.1 is airing Bet QL programming. I guess they have nothing better to air.

Pistons lost by 32 points. 🤮🤮

20 percent shooting from the 3-pt line as a team. I hate Troy Weaver's guts!!!

Two seasons ago, the Magic had a 22-60 record. Right now, they are the second best team in the east.
