If the Lions did somehow snatch the last playoff spot, their likely first round opponent would be Minnesota, in Minnesota.

Carolina beating Seattle is H*** for Detroit both for playoff chances and for the Rams draft pick.

Lions currently would pick 4th and 15th

Jets QB Mike White is in the hospital; we may be facing redemption-seeking Zach Wilson next week. I'd rather face old man Joe Flacco.

Interesting factoid: All but two of Goff's 22 TD passes have been at home. Three of our four remaining games are on the road.

Another interesting factoid: Detroit is now the only team in the NFC North with a positive point differential (ie, they've scored more points than they've given up). Minnesota, despite their 10-3 record, is actually in the hole in this stat, thanks to their numerous close wins and their blowout loss to Dallas.

Our fate rests in which team shows up really… if it’s the team that scores like a machine we’ll be ok.

Another fun fact - if Detroit wins out and Minnesota loses out, Detroit would win the division. Not expecting that of course, but would be fun if at least the next game or two went that way.

As Jennifer Hammond said on the pre-game, and as the Lions proved, the Vikings defense is "puke". Vikings fans and pundits are calling for DC Ed Donatell's head.

lt'll be a different story on the road against the Jets.

Robert Saleh in his Wednesday presser said QB Mike White will be starting and Zach Wilson has moved up to #2. Stud DT Quinnen Williams is 50\50 to play.

The game hinges on our O-liine keeping Goff clean and also opening holes as I suspect our game plan will be to pound the rock as much as possible facilitating a play-action passing attack. It's up-in-the-air (ha!) if weather will be a factor.

(Edit)
Current forecast is sunny and 37°.

FWIW, Vegas moved the line 3 points from +1 1/2 to -1 1/2 to the Lions side since this news came out.

I've gotta be honest, a QB literally playing for his job and redemption before his team and fans scares the hell outta me. We've gotta get to him early and often. I'm expecting a close low-scoring game, even if we get a good run game going, which is a necessity in this game...IMHO.

Agree with you pretty much everywhere, but I never figure the Lions to be in a low-scoring game. Not touching this one $-wise.

Seeing the Jets' superlative defense, something the Lions aren't used to seeing of late, on top of the fact it's outdoors in the cold, makes me think we won't be getting the big chunk pass plays we've become used to of late. As has been the case all season with this team, we can't afford to NOT play mistake-free football.

The Lions got quite a bit of help yesterday by the Niners beating the Seahawks. They basically control their own destiny now.

It's not quite that simple. Even if the Lions win out, those other teams vying for a spot need to do some losing, but you're right, the odds certainly improve greatly.
