They need to go 18-10 the rest of the way to meet my prediction (a baseball know-nothing), and that seems attainable.
It’s attainable but not likely. Tough 6-game western road trip next week, plus six games coming up in September versus Baltimore. I’ll be happy if they finish the season at .500.
Ditto! The coming schedule will be a far cry from going up against two of the worst teams in baseball. Actually, I'm looking forward to the season-ending series against the Orioles; it could have interesting playoff implications...just not necessarily for us.

Mize is back and pitched so-so. Wentz DFAed.

Shelby Miller giving up another bomb. His raw stats other than ERA and home runs allowed don’t look bad. He just gives up runs at an alarming rate.

Shelby is streaky as hell. One night he can strike out the side, then the next get rocked.

Slight correction. The Tigers end the season against the White Sox, which could have some interesting historical implications for the White Sox, and might be the Tigers' only chance to get above .500.

Those two Orioles series should be fun—they were built using the same model that Harris is trying to use, and I'm sure our announcers will talk about that.

D'OH! :-? Thanks for the correction regarding the Orioles, I should've said two "final month" series. Yes, they should be fun in any case.
The season-ending series against the White Sox will be a chance for unbridled schadenfreude.

Great to see the 84 team, especially Chet Lemon who has gone through a lot the past several years.

Skubal was brilliant. I was hoping he would finish what he started but I knew Hinch wouldn't send him out in the 9th. He's too big on pitch counts.

Today's starter is TBD. It's Madden's turn but he hasn't been confirmed to start.

No word on the two September callups.

Nice vibes over the weekend. The experience with the '84 Tigers reunion probably made a big impression on the current team—showed them how much the fans appreciate a winning team.

It took awhile, but this year's script finally played out yesterday—Tork and Riley leading the way with home runs.

In roughly 1/3 of a season (201 at bats), Kerry Carpenter has 14 home runs and 45 RBIs. That projects to about 40 home runs and 120 RBIs over a full season.

Gotta love winning with only three hits! :o

Y'know, this "pitching by committee" thing could become, uh, a "thing".

They blew a 5-0 lead last night in part because their best reliever (Tyler Holton) was used as a starter in the previous game.

Meanwhile, the Padres' bullpen shut down the Tigers using relievers (Tanner Scott, Jason Adam) who they picked up at midseason when the Tigers were trading away pitchers.

The Tigers win on a Parker Grandslam homerun and win the game for the Tigers who were down 3 with 2 outs in the 9TH 4-3 Tigers.

Amazing, when you consider the speed of the pitches he faced:

1, Ball, Four-seam FB, 101
2, Strike Swinging, Four-seam FB, 101
3, Ball, Four-seam FB, 101
4, Ball, Four-seam FB, 101
5, Foul Ball, Four-seam FB, 100
6, Home Run, Four-seam FB, 100

Also, Meadows is still technically a rookie, and he drove in three players who made their major league debuts this year (Malloy, Jung, Keith).

Thursday night's game inspired me to sign up for a seven-day trial subscription to Bally Sports+ to watch the Tigers.

Last night's game inspired me to cancel that subscription this morning. I just can't spend 2-3 hours on a game hoping that maybe something good will happen. There's more guaranteed entertainment in an old movie or TV show.

I might tune into the radio today or tomorrow. This is the Tigers' last visit to the Oakland stadium. For some reason, the broadcast booth always picks up a lot of interesting sounds from the crowd in Oakland.

I was there last September and can tell you why. It’s a H*** stadium and when there’s only about 7,500 people there, those mikes pick up EVERYTHING. The stadium itself, much like the city, is pretty run down and pathetic. Most of the food and concession stands were closed. It deserves one thing - a wrecking ball.

Greedy ass owner to move the team. That's why no one shows up. They don't even try.
