Figures. Whatever, I'll take the classic Lions cornbread eating philosophy of "a better season than we hoped". 500 was asking quite a bit of this team five months ago.

Washington lost today, so that's great news for the Lions.

Need Seattle to lose, though. Given how horrible the Jets have been lately, that seems unlikely. Seattle plays the damn Rams next weekend.

That's not correct - they still need Seattle to lose a game. If they go on to beat the Jets, then we need them to lose next week at home against the Rams.

A win in Green Bay means the Lions will earn the final wild card berth...guaranteed. That said, I predict Green Bay will win next weekend.
Whatever.
I guarantee the refs will do whatever it takes to make it happen, but screw 'em!

Beemer, if GB and Seattle win out, I hear GB goes to the playoffs. Do you know why they would have the tiebreaker?

Green Bay holds the tiebreaker over Seattle due to NFC conference record (Green Bay has a better record against NFC opponents by 1 game than does Seattle as 3 of Seattle's wins will have been against AFC teams vs. 2 for Green Bay).

Figured it was something like that.

Thanks!

NFL playoffs have always confused me. So many damn combinations. Especially because growing up with the Lions, you were generally lucky to get in anyway, and it was never for long.

Changes often too. Now there are 7 teams and 17 regular season games.

One thing that stays the same though....Lions don't win in Lambaugh.

It'll be interesting which game they decide to flex into primetime next Sunday I'm hoping it is the Seattle game, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is actually the Detroit game since that is the only game with a team with an absolute win-and-you're-in, lose-and-you're done scenario (Green Bay). Every other team has scenarios where their fate could be decided by the happenings in other games.

They need to play the Seattle and Detroit games at the same time. If Seattle wins, the GB game means nothing to Detroit. If GB wins, the Seattle game would mean nothing

I'm looking for a Lions win. Those Packer playoff games against Tampa Bay and San Francisco were awful, and cold weather isn't an advantage for Green Bay anymore.

The extended forecast for Green Bay is temperatures in the mid to upper 20s Sunday.

I'm going to fairly confidently predict that the Green Bay Detroit game gets flexed into primetime. But I missed the Titans v. Jags game whereby the winner of that game wins the division. But still, I doubt the Lions game gets moved to Saturday as the Seahawks could end up eliminated before Sunday even gets here. Same goes for the Seattle game - it could eliminate the Lions before Sunday. So my flex-schedule predictions are as follows:

Saturday: Titans vs. Jags
Saturday: Bills vs. Patriots
Sunday Night: Lions vs. Packers

Moreover - as far as having the Seahawks and Lions both play at the same time - ain't gonna happen. Per NFL flex scheduling procedures, there will be 3 games flexed in total, and all 3 games must have playoff implications. So out of the remaining games, the only game you could flex to primetime Sunday would be the Titans vs. Jaguars, and you could specifically put the Dolphins vs. Jets as the early Saturday game and the Bills vs. Patriots as the late Saturday game, but I suspect the league wants the Lions vs. Packers as a featured game. And they're just not going to do that on Saturday.

I hope I'm wrong though as I really don't want the Lions to play Sunday night.
