Super Bowl Commercials 2019

Post by mtburb » Sun Feb 03, 2019 7:35 pm

I know we are only in the second quarter, but so far most of the commercials have been crap. One of the only excellent ones may be that Bud Light one promoting the final season of Game of Thrones.

My furthest DTV tropo: KDKA Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 202 miles for three days in January 2017 and a night in September 2017 with only an Antennas Direct C2V!

Current setup: Antennas Direct C2Max (2018-present)

I wouldn't say crap but I would say uninspired and or not overly entertaining.

It was nice to see Sara Michelle Gellar again. The two mermaids were kind of cute even though that drink doesn't look very appealing.

I kinda liked the Audi "Grampa" spot -- started with parodic sap, but turned on a dime to end strong.

The Bud Light "Corn Syrup" spot also had an interesting narrative and message. It's been awhile since I've seen such blatant negative comparative advertising. This may start a new trend.

Concerning the mermaids, the brand was lost. I saw the container at the end, but the brand was unreadable and the audio didn't repeat it. I think the brand was mentioned only once at the beginning and I couldn't remember it -- my mind was on the mermaids. :blink

The brand was Bon And Viv Spiked Soda.

I thought the Mr Peanut ad was hilarious.

I just don't do sports anymore. That said, I find it almost disturbing in some way that people are tuning into drivel like this FOR THE AD CONTENT! Personally, if I never had to hear or see another ad in my life, I'd die a happy man. I just can't understand why someone would CHOOSE to watch something for the ads.
