CBC Reports Buffy Sainte Marie Scandal?

The CBC is reporting this, not some "Right Wing Conspiracy Publication".

Says Buffy was neither born in Canada, nor is she of Native American/Indigenous origin.

Father was named Santamaria, apparently Italian, which translates to Sainte Marie in French. Birth Certificate says she was born in Massachusetts.

As said in the Seinfeld episode “The Contest” Fake, Fake, Fake. But in all actuality, the woman was talented and did a lot for the Canadian Indigenous Community. Yes she did wrong by lying, but give her credit for the good that she has done during her career. She’s still is a great Canadian Talent.

Is the Buffy Sainte Marie scandal greater, lesser, or about equal to the Elizabeth Warren scandal? As I recall, Elizabeth Warren is something like 1/1024 Indigenous/Native American heritage, genetically indistinguishable from the average American. But her supporters don't see anything wrong with that.
