I heard this today and it caught me off guard, I was thinking Richard Marx for sure. Nope! Turns out it was Donny Osmond! I knew he had a song in the late 80s called scared emotion that did well, but I was not familiar with Solder of love. Apparently, it hit #2 on the US pop charts in June 1989.

"Soldier Of Love" was kept from # 1 by former actor of CBS "The Young & The Restless" Michael Damian "Rock On" (Remake of the David Essex 1974 song which is the worst remake that went to # 1) ("Rock On" was also from the 1989 movie "Dream A Little Dream" starring Corey Feldman, the late Corey Haim & Meredith Salenger).
