How Many Of You Played "The Chipmunk Song" 45 At 33 RPM?
How Many Of You Played "The Chipmunk Song" 45 At 33 RPM?
How many of you who are old enough ever tried playing "The Chipmunk Song" 45 at 33 RPM to see how Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. produced the chipmunk sounds?
Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

Hmm, never tried it. What did it sound like, a normal voice?
Interesting tidbit: Ross Bagdasarian played the piano player across the courtyard in the classic Hitchcock film Rear Window.

Ross Bagdasarian also wrote "Come On A My House" with his cousin, author William Saroyan. It was a #1 Hit for Rosemary Clooney in 1951, three years before he reprised that role in "Rear Window".
It sounded like someone talking very slowly in a more normal tone of voice.

"Come On A My House" Haven't heard that song for years. But, oddly, the song was running through my mind just yesterday,CK-722 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 27, 2020 1:10 pm,moldyoldie wrote: ↑Fri Nov 27, 2020 10:44 amHmm, never tried it. What did it sound like, a normal voice?

I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.

10 years later in 1968, Canned Heat covered "The Chipmunk Song" BUT they did it with a boogie!!!
Re: How Many Of You Played "The Chipmunk Song" 45 At 33 RPM?
I never had the 45 rpm version, but did have the album it was on. I listened to the album a few times at 16 rpm.
I wonder if there are any hidden messages when playing it backwards.

Seems like I did play the 45 at the lugubrious 16 2/3 RPM. AllI had was the Liberty 45 with the Aqua label.

Re: How Many Of You Played "The Chipmunk Song" 45 At 33 RPM?
The flip 45 side "Almost Good" (without the Chipmunks) is a great song!!!!
Re: How Many Of You Played "The Chipmunk Song" 45 At 33 RPM?
I did it, and it sounded mostly normal. About an octave or so lower and much slower than at 45. Record it at 33, play it at 45.
Re: How Many Of You Played "The Chipmunk Song" 45 At 33 RPM?
45/33 1/3 is approximately 5 half steps. or a musical fourth interval. If 33 1/3 was played at 16 2/3, it would be an octave lower.
