A Choice Of Colors-Curtis Mayfield And The Impressions

Post by TC Shuts Up » Mon Jul 13, 2020 7:25 pm

Curtom was Curtis Mayfield's own label. Probably today's consolidated labels wouldn't have let this peaceful song see the light of day. Not enough money in peace between peoples. Hateful Rap and Hip Hop talking about Ho's and such sells a lot more tracks today.

“Actually the label was called Curtom.”

Spell Check Strikes Again. If you want to really be useful, how do you shut spell check off? It changes more correct spellings than incorrect spellings.

First they were on ABC Paramount in 1961, then ABC Records in 1966 & then Curtom in 1968 (division of Buddah Records) till 1976.

According to Wikipedia Curtom was first distributed by Buddah. Before becoming defunct in 1980 distribution was handled by Warner Brothers, RSO, and finally Boardwalk, (which was a label founded by Neil Bogart after Casablanca was bought by Polygram.)

(I have a weird interest in old record labels. I know in the age of streaming they don't mean as much anymore.)
