The Big 8 exposed Canadian Artists to the Detroit Area and did a great job. If it wasn’t for CKLW we might’ve not heard the song “Stay Awhile” by The Bells from 1971 love that Can-Con. Thanks The Big 8 for great radio and great memories.

The Bells first song in America "Fly Little White Dove Fly" went to # 95 (Hot 100) in January of 1971. The next single "Stay Awhile" went to # 7 in May of 1971 (gold record) & at # 8 (Adult Contemporary). The final chart 45 single "I Love You Lady Dawn" went to # 64 (Hot 100) & # 26 (Adult Contemporary) in July 1971. The album "Fly Little White Dove Fly" went to # 90 on Billboard Top 200 Album Charts in June of 1971. Their next album "Love, Luck & Lollipops" did not charted in late 1971 in U.S.. Their final album "Pisces Rising" from 1974 also did not chart in U.S.. The song "For Better, For Worse" (also heard on former AM 630 CFCO in Chatham, Ontario) did not charted in December of 1971 in U.S.. There is also The Bells "20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection" on CD which has all of their biggest songs from Canada (1970 - 1974)!! There is a song melody called "Kris Collection" (which is songs by Kris Kristofferson).
