I've heard too many acquaintances say Ginger Baker is/was the greatest drummer in rock. I beg to differ, but that's another topic for another time. I'm also not certain Baker was carrying a full load upstairs, but he made his mark in both rock and jazz circles and was probably responsible for "popularizing" the extended drum solo in rock music.

Ginger Baker was a complete asshole. I have seen both Clapton and Bruce from very close up but have AVOIDED Baker because I didn't want to give him my money. Ginger really was quite good but too much of a creep. Calling Ginger the greatest is silly, there are just too many people.
