Re: Who sang it best: "Don't Turn Around" Edition
Connecting The Dots.
"Don't Turn Around" was cowritten by Albert Hammond and Diane Warren.
Albert Hammond's first big hit, written with Mike Hazlewood, was "Gimme Dat Ding" by the Pipkins, in 1970. The lead vocal by Tony Burrows was an imitation of a combination of Arte Johnson on Laugh In and Wolfman Jack. Arte was later in the Detroit production "Hot Fudge" with Larry Santos, another singer/songwriter/artist, who still lives in Plymouth, after being originally from Oneonta, NY. Larry's biggest singer songwriter claims to fame were writing "Candy Girl" for the Four Seasons, and his solo hit "We Can't Hide It Anymore".
