Audacy: more cuts coming at WCCO

Post by SolarMax » Mon May 15, 2023 11:03 am

WCCO radio owner Audacy says it will continue to cut costs, sell assets after another poor earnings report.

100+ year old, WCCO (830 AM MInneapolis) has still remained as one of the few "full service" stations, with a lot of local and locally originated content, well-liked personalities and strong identity ties to the Twin Cities. Most nights it is copiable here in SE Michigan.
As we've seen elsewhere, cutting services and programming does reduce costs, but a diminished quality product will drives away listeners. Reduced audience=reduced ad revenue=reduced profit="we need to cut more," as it swirls around the drain.

Might this portend similar action coming by Audacy with its Detroit cluster?
