Hey, some of us like to talk about happenings in other areas of the country, too. Here's the place to do it.

It’s not meant to beat WYRK. It’s meant to:
1) Frag a share point or two from YRK and
2) Clear a (small) market for nationwide Audacy Country programming.

I was wondering when Audacy would start dropping some of these horribly rated Alt stations. It seems they’ve kept some of these around for national buys, but if they’re willing to flip one, could more be not far behind?

It won't happen in Detroit as they already have WYCD.

I’m not necessarily thinking of Country, but I thought the reason Audacy keeps all these also-ran Alt stations is because they contribute to a national strategy. Heck, they blew up a decently performing Breeze for this Fault 98.7 disaster so they can expand their national format. I know that Buffalo is a pretty small market, but if they’re willing to cut loose with one lousy performer, could others not be far behind?

I’ve read that Audacy is working on a national Top 40 format. While I’d rather see WDZH go back to Soft AC, could this Alt, among no shortage of others nationwide, perform better as a 2nd Top 40?

Buffalo is a legacy market for Entercom, is a non-PPM market, and is not terribly relevant for national ad buys.

There also is a heritage Alternative station in that market (103.3 The Edge) that earned much better ratings than Alt 107.7 / 104.7.

The only other market where Entercom programs an Alternative station where a competing station in-format exists, to the best of my knowledge, is San Diego.

The Edge was a de facto Active Rock station for a number of years, and I believe may have even been an Active Rock panelist for a number of years. It may still have been leaning that way when 107.7 flipped to Alternative.

107.7 is also a rimshot. Its tower is 35 miles southeast of Buffalo. Country should do better than Alternative on this signal. The Edge broadcasts from the heart of Buffalo

It had 1 share, what did they have to lose?

Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!
