They do go forward and reverse, but no transmission. They are more akin to your ceiling fan than a conventional vehicle.

I get that. My whole point was about being in forward or reverse, not some degree of forward gear.
And I am NOT implying it had anything to do with this accident. It was merely a tangent comment.

At some point we evolved past manual transmissions and some people had trouble. This is a new technology and people will make mistakes.

And as expected the resident Tesla fan boy shows up to defend the car that kills.
LOL, I had TCT on ignore since Plate Cap suggest it to me. I was against the practice for years, but there is only so much foolishness one can take.

Personally, I drive manuals, and they don't suffer from sudden acceleration issues. That is an American phenomenon.
Plus I get 50 MPG in roomy16.3-foot-long car.
Imagine being so thin-skinned you have to put other internet forum users into an "ignore" list! :rollin
I'm fairly certain that Plate Cap is one of his alter egos, which makes it even more pathetic.

TC Talks is correct that pure EVs do not have a mechanical transmission. Everything is controlled electronically.

I think Plate Cap/Ben Zonia is one of the weirdos that works with him.

Shifting gears on a touch screen seems like a safety downgrade from a traditional gear shift stick you grab with your hand.
Yes. Here is article about on Tesla's related to the incident.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news/an ... r-BB1jQv43

Plus one foot driving in Tesla's has trained drivers not to use the brake.

PS I like manuals because I can coast to corner in a tall gear, which cuts off fuel. Automatics tend to downshift which increases engine braking, which I don't want, to maximize fuel economy.

PPS Matt: I know who Plate Cap is, but only because of enough clues he passed over time. I don't have time for multiple accounts.

Remember the Edsel? Pushbutton shift is not new.

Edsel was before my time. I understand some 60s Chrysler’s had push button transmission selectors.
In the 50s and 60s peoples brains worked more. Not relying on tech to do it all for you keeps your brain on top of things.

Reading maps, etc. some people don’t know north from south or east from west, or where basic major roads are around them.
Technology has its drawbacks and advantages.

There really should be crank knobs in the front windows at least.
They/them, non-binary and proud.

I was wondering if somebody would bring that up because those buttons are pretty much identical to a touch screen. :rollin
