New Years Eve shooting inside Walmart in shithole Grand Rapids suburb

The crime ridden city of Wyoming's Walmart store, at 54th St near US 131, had an attempted murder inside the store at 6PM on New Year's Eve.

A piece of evil human garbage fired 10 rounds at another man while standing at or near the checkout line. A woman was caught in the line of fire and was wounded. The shooter also had an accomplice. Both the shooter and the accomplice have not yet been apprehended.

The fact this story hasn't received more widespread attention statewide is astonishing to me.

Two weeks ago, a couple miles due south, a Jeep randomly exploded to pieces while crossing the railroad tracks at 68th St. The ATF was called to the scene. Law enforcement has been tight lipped regarding the situation.

I could swear I saw something on the WLNS news break last night during the NYE show but I could be wrong.

Fact is, people suck, Mark. This is the world we live in.

That's a dangerous Wal Mart. Somebody was shot there last year.

Can't be anymore dangerous than the Wal-Mart on Corunna Rd. in Flint.

Absolutely right. The store should be condemned and demolished, as far as I'm concerned.

Growing up, in the 90s locals would make fun of the Kmart at 28th and Buchanan, but I never recall any stabbings or shootings at that store - ever.

The NRA sure has changed the landscape of our country.

When I was a reporter in GR in the early 90's, we would have a few "crime of passion" murders in S. E. but nothing like this.

Portions of S.E. GR have always had drug-related and gang-related violence. Prostitution was a major problem along S. Division between Wealthy St. and Griggs St.

Prostitution has been around since forever. It's not a violent crime.

I lived up on Heritage Hill and we didn't got too far South of Cherry. There is always crime in cities, opening fire in a store is a more recent phenomenon.

The real problem is that West Michigan might as well be in another state… nobody over here really cares about a random act of violence over that way. A jeep randomly exploding might be a better bet to clear that bar but only marginally. It would be like worrying about what’s going on in Columbus or Dayton mileage wise…

I have a friend worked optical there.
Standard Operating Procedure was for co-workers to watch each other get in their cars after dark.

This Walmart is near the Wyoming - Rentwood border.

Kentwood lacks a Walmart of its own.

That is extremely surprising.
