Charles Schwab sucks compared to TD Ameritrade

Post by MWmetalhead » Sun Aug 20, 2023 8:27 am

I'm pissed that TD Ameritrade got scooped up by Schwab and that I'm now stuck with Schwab's klunky mobile app.

TD Ameritrade's app made analyst research, news queries, technical trade triggers, financial performance research, positions summarization, and charting so easy!!!

Schwab's mobile app makes you click thru extra screens to see performance charts, and worst of all, charting only goes back 1 year!!! How fucking stupid.

I cannot sort my positions alphabetically by symbol, by largest gain, by largest loss, etc.

The company news article list is pathetic compared to Ameritrade. Mostly just SEC filings (fine) and broad market news; very little company specific news aside from the SEC filings.

Zero links to third party analyst research reports; but hey, they do provide access to Schwab's own reporting. Lucky us.

Fuck Schwab. Can anyone recommend a good broker with a very user friendly mobile app experience? They should've imported TD Ameritrade's software and converted their legacy accounts to it, not the other way around.

Mean people suck. Nice people swallow.
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

What was your point? Don't you have a pension? Does that pension plan invest in stocks?

Charles Schwab seems to have gotten worse, and more like other authoritarian brokerages and banks that make it difficult to withdraw your money and act like it is theirs.

As for socialism, you can print money and pay people money for nothing, but if there is no value added, all you get is inflation.

Robinhood does have very good software reviews, but I am unable to use them (and I'm leery of using a broker that hasn't been in existence for very long in any event).

Because my profession on occasion avails me of material non-public info relating to companies with publicly traded debt or equity, only certain brokers are approved for my use. I have to clear every single trade with my employer first, and any broker I use must share my trades with my employer.

Vanguard may be an option.

If you're looking for a-thousand-and-one bells and whistles, you may be disappointed with Vanguard. Their M.O. is simplicity and low costs. They really don't pander to the needs of active traders, but mostly long-term investors, and especially index investors. They'll even "warn" you when your portfolio deviates from market weightings. You'll find all the usual basic stats and charts of individual companies and a minimum of third-party analysis. I've been with them for years and have been more than pleased with order execution, plus in a brokerage account all cash is swept into a high-interest federal money market fund by default, unlike with Schwab.

They are moving folks to Schwab in waves. My group was moved Memorial Day weekend.

Thinkorswim is completely unavailable on Schwab's platform right now. They keep promising it will be available sometime in Q4. We shall see.

My son day trades and uses Fidelity's app. He used to be with Robinhood.

He said it's pretty good, but Fidelity is rather ubiquitous.
