Unbelievable that crazy shit like this happens at what is supposed to be a professionally-run fireworks display hosted by the city.
Then again, Allegan County is probably the meth lab capital of the state (perhaps "bested" by only Van Buren county), and some total morons have held or perhaps currently hold office there, so it wouldn't surprise me if little to no due diligence was performed on the company hired to put on the show.

By the way, a year or two ago at the city of Allegan display, a barge from which fireworks were being launched caught fire.
