It had been a quiet April afternoon until about a dozen teenagers began running up Pitkin Avenue in Brownsville, yelling and cursing. They were chasing a girl of about 14 and it was clear they wanted a fight.
Five plainclothes police officers watched warily. Across Pitkin stood about half a dozen men, civilians in jeans and purple-and-gray sweatshirts.
“They got it,” an officer said.
The teenagers slowed as they spotted the men, workers from an organization called Brownsville In Violence Out, who calmly waved them in different directions. They scattered as the girl fled down a side street.
The brief encounter encapsulated a simple yet unorthodox concept that is at the heart of a bold experiment organizers believe could redefine law-enforcement in New York: letting neighbors, not the police, respond to low-level street crime.
Acceptable registrations in the queue through May 6 at 7:00p ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Sort of like this?

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.
Re: Experimenting with Neighborhood Policing
Maybe, you know what didn't happen in that scene?
- No cop shot someone in the back
- No one was killed with a thin blue line chokehold
- The trouble makers were treated respectfully
- They were asked to leave politely, not immediately tased and test gassed
I'm not a fan of the video, but they handled it more humanly than police often do. If the cops had been called, there's a decent chance the kid would have been "accidentally" killed.

Wait a minute...are you suggesting that shooting somebody in the back is inhumane?TC Talks wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 10:23 pmMaybe, you know what didn't happen in that scene?

No, Cops are often the problem. At least they are working on solutions to side step cops in the Bronx...Bryce wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 5:27 pmWell aren't you just the little drama queen.TC Talks wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 10:23 pmMaybe, you know what didn't happen in that scene?

Re: Experimenting with Neighborhood Policing
A note to the casual reader....
Although that is the narrative folks of TC Talks ilk want to sell, especially when it comes to interactions between police and black folks. It's just not true.
Did you know there were twice as many black people murderd in just the City of Chicago in 2022 than there were black people killed by police officers in the ENTIRE COUNTRY. Keep in mind the VAST MAJORITY of deadly force encounters by police were justified.

Re: Experimenting with Neighborhood Policing
Note how TC Talks conveniently leaves out of his quote the part about the vast majority being justified. Also note how he ignored by comment about shooting people in the back. TCT is already on record saying that it is perfectly acceptable to shoot 84-year-old women in the back so long as they're pro-life and out collecting petitions.
So he's not ok with cops using justified deadly force against thugs (especially if they're black), but he is ok with 75-year-old-men shooting unarmed 84-year-old women (especially if they're white, and really especially if they're pro-life) in the back.

Re: Experimenting with Neighborhood Policing
Please read the incidents of violence committed by anti-abortion zealots. They are a terrorist group. Are you suggesting the 84 year old activist was just walking innocently down the street? She came on private property and started a fight with the homeowner and the husband defended his wife.bmw wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 8:31 amNote how TC Talks conveniently leaves out of his quote the part about the vast majority being justified. Maybe stand your ground and over weaponizing America is a bad idea?

Cite me the Antifa violence. Compare it to Anti-abortion violence. They certainly not the same in size or frequency.Bryce wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 6:54 amIn you world anti-abortion people are terrorists and Antifa is not.
