"keep it on my bathroom. That way I have to get up and walk over to the sink to shut the alarm off"

I used to do this, one time in Needles CA I went over to shut the damned thing off without my glasses, I smacked a tarantula.
I'm sure that woke you up. :razz

Sounds like Hampton Inn's going Vegas. No clocks in casinos or windows for that matter. They want you to lose all track of time while you're gambling.

The local Hilton downtown has been sold and is being converted to an eleven story homeless shelter.

Those homeless folks won't want an embarassing, out of date clock in their rooms. So there should be 583 of those nice Hilton clocks coming to our local, second hand shops soon. I'll be watching for them.

So the homeless must be middle class now?

Many of them may have started out as middle class. But they fell on hard times and their income dropped below the arbitrary threshold for membership in the middle class so they were kicked out.

But they probably still have their middle class values and wouldn't want to see a clock in their 9th story room at the shelter.

Turkey Trot;
Anytime I step out of town, I stay at a Holiday Inn Express. Because of your accolades about Hampton Inn, I have decided to stay two days at one in a couple of weeks.

In case they haven't yet romoved the clocks from the one you are staying at, you may want to just throw a towel over it. Nothing ruins a hotel stay more than seeing a clock in the room.

Going to FL we always stop at Lake Park GA. Two years ago a new Holiday Inn Express opened up there. We've stayed there twice and liked it.

I would say do them a favor and take the clock with you as a collectible… clearly they won’t mind…

I had you pegged as a motel 6 loyalist.

What's more pathetic: harassing an old man who is paying to do a radio show or supporting a grifter like Trump?

Here's a new one on me. An out of town job ran long and I didn't feel like making the drive home after a long day. I checked into a Days Inn by the expressway exit.

Not only did they not have a clock in the room, they didn't have a armoire, closet or even a rack to hang clothes on. I ended up hanging my suit on a light sconce on the wall.

Seems like their cutting costs to me.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Clocks, armoires closets and clothes racks all combine to make a room look out of date.

Use the ap.

That's weird.
Nowhere to hang up shirts and jackets. What if you were going to a meeting in the morning. Show up in wrinkled shirt and slacks? Myself, I would definitely be doing a "What the heck?" at the front desk while checking out.

About ten years ago, I stayed at a Howard Johnson in Toronto that was away ahead of the curve on this minimalist room decor.

The room furnishings consisted of a bed and a TV. No desk, no chair, no bedside table, no clock, no lamp. The only lighting was from a fixture in the ceiling.

There was only one electrical outlet in the room, down behind the TV. If a person had wanted to use an electric razor or hair dryer. they'd have had to get down on the floor in front of the TV.

A cheap, fourth rate hotel. But at least they didn't try to pass it off as trying to make the room look trendy or contemporary.
