I seen this and had to share. Can I get an Amen on just about everything he says?

He's pretty much spot on. What makes the smart phone different than past advancements in technology is its portability.

When I see a group of people all staring at their phones, that sight literally gives me anxiety.

I got a flip phone back in 2003 or 2004 and have never to this day purchased a smart phone. Yes, I do use the internet quite frequently on my desktop PC or my tablet, but I NEVER, ever have the urge to do anything online when I am anywhere other than at home or at my place of work.

Criminals LOVE smartphones. Not just to steal, but people using them are normally totally unaware of their surroundings and the predators that may be lurking.

I had one of the first smart phones, it was a Pocket PC on Windows CE in the early 2000's.

I don't install any social media apps.

My phone is on the kitchen wall. Don't know how smart it is.

Ha. Just about...

Not a fan of far-left Maher, but during the rare time(s) he and his writers aren't being 100% politico, I can get behind - or even enjoy - what he's got to say. (Colbert did that type of departure during last week's big 'FB Outage of '21', and it was the first in a long time I found him funny...)

I've used a smart phone since the iPhone 4S, and - in addition to its phone functions - have come to depend on it for many things in my tech / engineering / support career and connected life. I even play a game on it once in a while. There's nothing somed on it, and I have no somed accounts (unless you stretch things WAY out there and call this place social media). I make no apologies about it; it makes my life easier, and I'm more efficient at work with it in my toolkit. Unless you're saving money on your phone or its plan, I don't understand the pride in being a luddite.

I do get anxiety when I'm on the road, because there are a large number of turds out there texting (and not just the kiddo's, people) or just using half their arms and hands to hold a phone to their empty noggins whilst they cross the center line yappin' about something. I know there are laws on the books about distracted driving, I just don't think they're being enforced very well.

My first smart phone was a Blackberry and have had one since then. Will be upgrading in a week or two. I use mine quite a bit for work and texting with family and friends. When in my vehicle it runs thru the infotainment system so I can talk to text and answer calls without being distracted. haven't had a land line in a dozen years.
