Niceville man allegedly chased, rammed another vehicle in a road rage incident


BLUEWATER BAY — A 22-year-old Niceville man was arrested Wednesday following a road rage incident in which he allegedly rammed another vehicle and the victim fired a shot from a handgun.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office charged Taylor Sylvester with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to an OCSO news release.

A Crestview resident told investigators he and another man were in a red pickup truck near the intersection of State Roads 20 and 293 about 4:30 p.m. when they used the shoulder of the road to pass a man in a blue car who was waiting to turn left onto County Line Road from SR 20 near Bluewater Bay.

The Crestview man said the driver of the blue car, later identified as Sylvester, then began to chase them and rammed his rear bumper.

A short time later on State Road 85, the blue car "came out of nowhere" and hit the truck's driver's side door several times, OCSO reported. The victim told deputies he feared for his life and shot one round from a handgun toward the blue car.

Damage was found on the truck's rear and driver's side. Damage from a bullet was found in the radiator of Sylvester's car. No injuries were reported.
