Lynn Henning, who's forever falling in love with Tigers' prospects, appears to have really been hoodwinked by the Tigers. For months he's been writing that, while there was little chance he would last until the Tigers' first pick (and rightly denigrating the Commissioner's decision to set the draft order wholly on the abbreviated 2020 season), Marcelo Mayer was on top of the Tigers' scouts list. And as he fell onto the Tigers' lap, while they were on the clock, Henning was tweeting that Mayer was the pick.

Detroit has not had a good sports writer since Mike Downey left the Free Press.
